Job Description

SUMMARY:  



Salvage Team Members support salvage and recycling operations by sorting, palletizing, staging, and preparing materials for recycling or outlet distribution.

REPORTS TO



Distribution Manager/ Distribution Assistant Manager



 



ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:




  1. Sorts donated goods designated for salvage or recycling according to agency guidelines. 

  2. Palletizes, stages, and prepares salvage materials for recycling or shipment. 

  3. Maintains organized warehouse zones for salvage materials, supplies, and outbound shipments. 

  4. Rotates materials and product inventory according to operational procedures. 

  5. Safely operates warehouse equipment including pallet jacks, ladders, forklifts, and other material handling equipment as assigned. 

  6. Assists with loading and unloading salvage shipments and transportation vehicles. 

  7. Assists with staging and movement of materials to support efficient warehouse workflow and transportation operations.

  8. Completes required documentation related to salvage processing and warehouse activities. 

  9. Maintains a clean and safe warehouse work environment including removal of debris and spills. 

  10. Uses required personal protective equipment and follows safe material handling procedures at all times. 

  11. Supports the efficient flow of donated goods from receiving through salvage processing and shipment.

  12. Participates in required safety drills, training sessions, and operational meetings. 

  13. Reports equipment issues, safety concerns, or operational problems to the Salvage Lead promptly. 

  14. Assists internal staff with movement of merchandise and materials within the warehouse and outlet areas when needed.

  15. Employees are expected to maintain regular attendance, follow safety procedures, maintain a professional appearance, and comply with all agency policies and procedures.

  16. Performs additional duties as assigned to support warehouse and distribution operations.

Employees must be able to:




  • Stand and walk for extended periods in a warehouse environment 

  • Lift, move, and handle materials weighing up to 50 pounds regularly and team lift up to 100 pounds occasionally

  • Bend, stoop, kneel, reach, and climb when performing warehouse duties 

  • Push and pull carts, pallets, and containers 

  • Operate warehouse equipment including pallet jacks, forklifts, and other material handling equipment 



 



Employees may be exposed to:




  • Moving mechanical parts and powered industrial equipment 

  • Dust, airborne particles, and recycled materials 

  • Moderate to loud noise levels 

  • Varying indoor temperatures and occasional outdoor conditions

  • An open warehouse or distribution center with active material handling and equipment use
