About the Role:
The Vet Assistant, Tech Assistant plays a crucial role in supporting veterinarians and veterinary technicians in delivering high-quality medical care to animals. Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Atleast 1-2 years experience or formal training in animal care or veterinary assistance.
- Basic knowledge of animal handling and safety protocols.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks including lifting and restraining animals.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certification as a Veterinary Assistant or completion of a veterinary technology program.
- Experience with electronic medical records (EMR) systems.
- Knowledge of common veterinary medications and procedures.
- CPR and first aid certification for animals.
- Previous experience working in a veterinary clinic or animal hospital.
Responsibilities:
- Assist veterinarians and veterinary technicians during examinations, treatments, and surgical procedures by restraining animals and preparing necessary instruments.
- Monitor and record vital signs, administer medications as directed, and provide basic nursing care to hospitalized animals.
- Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of treatment areas, kennels, and equipment to comply with health and safety standards.
- Communicate effectively with pet owners by providing instructions on post-treatment care, answering routine questions, and scheduling follow-up appointments.
- Manage inventory of medical supplies and assist with administrative duties including updating patient records and processing billing information.
