Job Description

The Operations Technology (OT) Administrator assists with the design, administration, maintenance, and security of the utility’s Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems and associated industrial control networks supporting Power Plant, Electric Distribution, Water and Wastewater operations. The OT Administrator coordinates with staff responsible for control systems, telemetry, industrial networking, and automation infrastructure that operate power, electric distribution, water and wastewater treatment facilities, pump stations, and remote sites.

The OT Administrator works closely with Information Technology, engineering staff, plant operations, and external system integrators to ensure reliable system performance, cybersecurity protection, and continuous monitoring of critical infrastructure.


Examples of Duties and Responsibilities:

Oversee industrial communication networks connecting utility facilities and remote sites.

Implement policies and procedures to protect critical infrastructure from cybersecurity threats.

Ensure high system availability and minimal operational disruption.

Ability to listen, reason, troubleshoot, and exercise sound judgement and decision making, communicating clearly and concisely with staff and external partners.

Provides budget recommendations and oversees OT system lifecycle management, change control and documentation.

 

Sample of Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, Automation Engineering, or equivalent combination of education and experience will be taken into consideration.

Experience working with system integrators and control system vendors.

Knowledge of instrumentation and control devices used in utility operations.
