The District
Reardan-Edwall School District encompasses a large geographic area including the towns of
Reardan and Edwall. The District includes one elementary school and one secondary school. Our

Qualifications
● Close affiliation with and commitment to Reardan-Edwall School District’s

● Successful passing of the fingerprint process and background check
● Be free of conviction of any offense, which may reflect upon the necessary trust and
confidence required of the position - Valid driver’s license.

● Possess a valid food handler’s permit and meeting regulations specified by the
Department of Health. If not, it must be obtained.
Education
● A high school education or the equivalent.
Job Duties
● Assists with food preparation following menus accurately and on schedule.
● Uses acceptable safety and sanitation procedures in job performance.
● Take food temperatures and document times and temperatures.
● Assist in preparing/serving breakfast and hot lunch.

● Assist baking bread products (desserts, muffins, etc.).
● Assist with food preparation following the menu accurately and on schedule.
● Assist with preparing items for the salad bar cart.
● Assist with setting up, shut down and cleaning the salad bar cart and steam table.
● Assist washing pots and pans and other dishes.
● Assist with cleaning and putting clean dishes away.
● Assist setting up pre-school’s cart and delivering it to pre-school.
● Assist with calling in the milk order.
● Assist with food orders.
● Assist with putting food items into the freezer. Come prepared with appropriate clothing
for -10 degrees.
● Assist on sweeping and mopping the kitchen, walk-in cooler and storerooms, daily.
● Receive, store and organize deliveries.
● Assist in maintaining a clean and sanitary work area at all times.
● Assist with or conduct inventories as needed.
● Operate and maintain equipment indigenous to the kitchen.
● Models appropriate and cooperative behavior, including protecting confidential
information, consistent with the district ethical guidelines.
● Perform other duties as assigned.
Mental Demands
● Experiences frequent interruptions; required to meet inflexible deadlines; required
concentration and attention to detail; may occasionally deal with distraught or difficult
individuals.
Physical Demands
● Required to stand for prolonged periods; exposed to heat from ovens, burners and
steam trays; responsible for operation of cutting and slicing equipment and machines
with moving parts; required to move heavy supplies and full pans of food weighing up
to 50 pounds; exposed to high noise levels from kitchen equipment and students at
meals, required to wear protective clothing; may need to take precautions to avoid
exposure to cleaners and fumes; potentially exposed to ordinary infectious diseases
carried by students.
Terms of Employment:
● This position reports to the Director of Programs & Development and works closely with the
head and/or assistant cook.
● 2025-26 School Year Sub Rate: $17/hr
