Job Description

Hyde Park Schools seeks to hire an Upper School Art Teacher who is able to teach an art curriculum that focuses on fundamentals of drawing, painting, and 3-D design as well as a broad overview of art history. There should also be an emphasis on conceptual development and ideation. Qualified candidates will have at least a Bachelor’s degree in Art or a related field. A state issued Teacher Certification is highly preferred. Prior teaching experience is also preferred. All Hyde Park faculty are expected to have a commitment to continued professional growth to meet the needs of the 21st century classroom through educational articles, research, and professional development opportunities.

Requirements

  • Spiritually prepare to serve students and families.
  • Integrate the Biblical Worldview into lessons and find ways to teach through a Christ-centered approach to the inclusion of arts.
  • Teach and develop curriculum for multiple levels including Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced, and AP courses.
  • Cross departmental learning is encouraged. 
  • Attend weekly chapels services, small group meetings, or other school related activities
  • Serve as GoWeek team leaders 
  • Fully engage and participate in authentic collaborative professional meetings, take initiative to think and learn at high cognitive levels for the benefit of students.
  • Create, design, implement, and adjust lessons that align with the “HP Classroom” expectations 
  • Regularly interact with students, parents, faculty, and administrators 
  • Maximize strong interpersonal competency and build trust and rapport. 
  • Identify and address learning needs of all students.
  • Provide daily or weekly academic assistance to students who need additional support
  • Participate in team learning, grade-level, and department meetings.
  • Use assessment data and document student progress and achievement; assess and analyze student strengths and needs; design and implement appropriate instruction to facilitate learning and growth. 
  • Assist parents by providing academic information; suggest available educational and social resources; address parents’ concerns
  • Attend outside workshops and utilizes professional development resources (publications, memberships, etc) to grow professionally
  • Maintain safe and clean working environments by complying with HP Employee Handbook
  • Adhere to strict student confidentiality to support students academic and mental health 
  • Other duties as assigned (Graduation, Project Graduation, Prom, HOCO, etc)
