Camp I Can Counselor
Seasonal, Part Time, $15/hour
 
Camp I Can Counselor

Age Requirement:  16 & older
Driving Requirement: Must be 21 years of age with a valid driver's license
 
Distinguishing features of work 

• Work 4-6 hours inside at Scovill Activity Center and outdoors at various locations
• Very little time is spent indoors

 
Examples of work performed

• Assist with planning daily activities and field trips
• Clean room at the end of each day
• Take kids to the restroom when needed and change diapers when needed
• Help serve snack and lunch and clean up after
• On pool days be sure to wear swim suits and be in the water with the children
• Take daily attendance and daily sign out
• Assist children with keeping storage areas clean and organized
• Must be able to lead a group in an organized game
• Reports any hazardous or unsafe conditions to the supervisor

 
Required knowledge, skills and abilities

• Must have the ability to interact with children with special needs ages 6 and up.
• Enjoy working with youth and adults with special needs
• Good communication skills and the ability to work well with peers

 
Desirable experience and training

• Previous experience working in an organized special needs program preferred
• Preferred CPR/First Aid training
