Description

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Operations Manager to oversee daily operations of our lumber yard and door mill. This role is responsible for ensuring efficient workflow, maintaining safety and compliance standards, and leading a team to meet production and delivery goals. The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader with strong organizational skills, a focus on safety, and experience in building materials or manufacturing environments.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead, supervise, and develop yard and mill personnel to ensure productivity, accountability, and a positive work environment
• Oversee accurate and timely pulling, staging, and loading of materials for customer orders and deliveries
• Manage daily operations of the door mill, including scheduling, workflow coordination, and quality control
• Ensure proper maintenance, inspection, and safe operation of all equipment (forklifts, saws, trucks, etc.)
• Supervise on-site DOT drivers, ensuring compliance with all transportation regulations and company policies
• Enforce OSHA standards and company safety policies; conduct regular safety meetings and training
• Monitor inventory levels and coordinate regular cycle counts and full physical inventories
• Investigate and resolve discrepancies in inventory, shipments, or production
• Collaborate with sales, purchasing, and logistics teams to optimize operations and meet customer demands
• Maintain organized yard layout and efficient material flow
• Track operational metrics and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and reduce waste

Requirements

• 3–5+ years of operations or warehouse management experience (lumber, building materials, or manufacturing preferred)
• Strong leadership and team management skills
• Knowledge of OSHA regulations and workplace safety practices
• Familiarity with DOT regulations and fleet oversight
• Experience with inventory management systems and cycle counting
• Mechanical aptitude and experience overseeing equipment maintenance
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, physically demanding environment
• Strong communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in a lumber yard, millwork, or door manufacturing environment
• Working knowledge of BisTrack and WMS inventory software
• Forklift certification (or ability to obtain)
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus
