Job Description

Qualifications: Appropriate Certification by the Missouri State Department of Education.


 


Reports to: Building Principal


 


Goal: To help students learn subject matter and skills that contribute to their development              as able, responsible citizens.


 


 


Responsibilities:



  • Meet and instruct assigned classes in the locations and at the times designated.

  • Align and implement District approved curriculum.

  • Assess accomplishment of students on a regular basis.

  • Develop lesson plans and instructional materials to provide individual and group instruction.

  • Create a positive learning environment through displays, bulletin boards and interest centers.

  • Keep appropriate records and prepare progress reports.

  • Communicate with parents through a variety of means including conferences.

  • Participate in professional development activities.

  • Attend required meetings.

  • Select, requisition and inventory appropriate books and instructional aids.

  • Supervise students during work day.

  • Work cooperatively with other staff.

  • Supervise paraprofessional if appropriate.

  • Prepare for class and provide written evidence as requested.

  • Make referrals of students when necessary as determined by need.

  • Manage classroom behaviors appropriately.

  • Maintain and improve professional competence.

  • Keep confidentiality and respect student privacy.

  • Keep building principal informed of appropriate issues.

  • Keep the Principal informed of appropriate issues.

  • Make decisions for the best interests of the District and within Board policies and CSIP objectives.

  • Promote positive relations between the building, District, Board and community.

  • Work to achieve district goals adopted by the Board.

  • Execute all policies, rules and regulations adopted by the Board.

  • Performs duties as assigned to maintain order and safety.


Terms of Employment:


Contract to be established by the Board – Generally 182 days.


 


Evaluation:


Annually by the Building Principal in accordance with policy.


 


A criminal fingerprint/background clearance is required.
