As the Manager of Transmission Estimating, you will serve as a key leader in our infrastructure development, heading the team responsible for building the financial blueprints of our transmission capital projects. You will act as the vital link between technical engineering data and strategic financial planning, ensuring that every project is backed by accurate, data-driven forecasting from the very beginning. Beyond just overseeing the numbers, you will guide your staff in collaborating with stakeholders, analyzing complex project parameters, and navigating financial requirements to keep our investments on track. Your leadership will be essential in refining our processes and balancing project goals with fiscal responsibility to ensure the long-term success of LCRA.
How You’ll Contribute
- Manage all aspects of supervision, including hiring, training, work assignments, and performance management, while ensuring clear communication and alignment with LCRA’s strategic goals.
- Oversee the end-to-end development of cost estimates for transmission capital projects, collaborating with various departments to ensure all components are accurately captured.
- Own and operate the estimating tools, databases, and software systems required to support the group’s primary functions and data integrity.
- Enhance estimate quality and accuracy by developing new processes, performing post-project reviews, and maintaining benchmark historical data.
- Review and update estimates throughout the project duration to support capital planning, while retaining objective evidence for audits and future filings.
- Build effective partnerships with internal and external customers, serve on committees, and deliver reports and presentations to management.
How You’re Qualified
- Twelve or more years of experience in operations, engineering, finance, accounting, economics or other related to field or relevant experience and three years of leadership responsibility.
- A degree(s) in business, economics, mathematics, engineering, accounting, statistics, finance, or relevant field experience may be substituted per LCRA guidelines for specific years of experience.
How You’ll Stand Out
- Knowledge of construction methods, materials, sequencing and cost structures (labor, equipment, subcontractors, general conditions, overhead)
- Ability to interpret project drawings and specifications
- Proficiency with software such as Sage Estimating, Bluebeam Revu and Microsoft Office products including Excel
