    Transportation Coordinator for Spring-Ford Area School District

    Full-time 12 month (260-262 days) position. Anticipated start date on August 3, 2026.

    Position Goal:
    The Coordinator of Transportation coordinates with the pupil transportation system contractor for district regular and special needs students enrolled in both public and non-public schools.  The Coordinator of Transportation follows Board guidelines as well as local, state, and federal transportation regulations and specifications ensuring maximum safety, service, economy and efficiency. 

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

    • Develop efficient transportation schedules and modify, as necessary, by weather or other emergency conditions for the following:
      • Elementary and Secondary Public-School Students
      • Students with Special Needs
      • Student Work Programs
      • Students with Homelessness in coordination with other districts if needed
      • Elementary and Secondary Non-Public Runs Outside of the District
      • Alternative Schools
      • Field Trips
    • Establish and maintain contracts and act as district liaison with contracted carriers other than the district's current contractor.
    • Responsible for knowing weather conditions and how they will affect transportation schedules working with and assisting the Superintendent.
    • Responsible for communicating with contractors, principals, and parents in solving transportation issues.
    • Responsible for communicating with the Intermediate Unit Transportation Service to provide special needs students with transportation as needed.
    • Arrange for sufficient evaluation and other drills to ensure the safety of the student passengers; works with principals and teachers in promulgating an active program of safety for pupils.
    • Responsible for developing, maintaining, completing, and submitting records as may be necessary for state reporting requirements.
    • Responsible for the overall acquisition, maintenance, insurance, registrations, scheduling, and other compliance for the district owned passenger vans.
    • Responsible for internal mail courier activities.
    • Assist the Chief Financial Officer in the following:
      • Project needs for future proposed changes to the existing transportation systems for current and future years.
      • Develop budget estimates for transportation services.
    • Performs any other job-related duties, projects, and responsibilities as assigned by the Chief Financial Officer or their designee. 

    Education & Experience:
    High School diploma or equivalent. Previous administrative experience in public school transportation preferred.

    Compensation: 
    Spring-Ford Area School District offers a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision and prescription insurance, as well as paid time off, paid holidays, and a tuition reimbursement program. 
    Salary commensurate with experience. Salary Range: $106,000.00 - $119,303.93.

    All external candidates will need to submit valid Act 34, Act 151, and Act 114 clearances dated less than 1 year old as of the start of employment.
