JOB SUMMARY:
The Assembler is responsible for filling, whomping, bagging, and boxing/packing pillows in accordance with ATC standards and assigned work orders. This role supports production operations and promotes the safe and efficient handling of materials and equipment.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Filling
• Fills pillow shells with fiber and places pillows on the conveyor for sewing.
• Performs random weight checks using QC scales to ensure product compliance.
Whomping & Bagging
• Removes completed pillows from the conveyor belt.
• Whomps and bags pillows according to production requirements.
• Packs shipping cartons with finished product in accordance with customer specifications.
• Ensures accurate carton counts and applies correct labels to cartons.
Prework/Rework
• Removes packaging from finished pillows for repackaging into alternate packaging.
• Makes required changes to finished products, including price ticketing of bags and pillow shells.
• Prepares or modifies components as needed prior to production.
Safety and Equipment
• Operates and cares for all company equipment and property in a safe manner.
• Reports equipment issues to the immediate supervisor or maintenance department.
• Performs all duties in a manner that ensures personal safety and the safety of co-workers.
Scanning
• Accurately records finished products using handheld scanning devices.
Changeovers
• Performs required production changeover activities between work orders.
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• Ability to read and understand production documents and related paperwork
• Ability to be trained to use a handheld scanner
• Ability to perform basic math to verify order quantities and inventory
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
• Ability to constantly stand, walk, bend, and reach
• Ability to constantly lift and carry cartons weighing up to 25 lbs.
• Ability to occasionally lift and carry cartons weighing up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to work in environments with extreme heat or cold
