Performance Analyst - Force Contact, West Midlands Police

The Role:
As a Performance Analyst for the Service Improvement Team, within Force Contact, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the department operates efficiently and effectively. Your primary responsibility will be the continual evaluation and analysis of departmental performance. You will provide insightful analysis and advice to senior management on performance issues, presenting your findings through written reports and oral presentations.
Your role will involve collating and presenting performance information to both Senior Leadership and other internal partners. You will review, analyse, and interpret performance data using various statistical techniques, conducting further research to provide a deeper understanding of performance issues and their underlying causes. Additionally, you will undertake survey research, including designing questionnaires and analysing responses.
You will prepare comprehensive written and verbal reports using information from a variety of sources and actively participate in briefings, meetings, seminars, and workshops to gather, present, and exchange performance-related information. Providing advice and guidance on the use and interpretation of published performance data will also be a key part of your role. As an active team member, you will support the Service Improvement Team in all aspects of performance management and perform any other tasks commensurate with the role.
Responsibilities:
• Responsible for the continual evaluation and analysis of West Midlands Police performance both at local and Force level.
• Provide analysis and advice to senior management on performance issues in both ‘written report’ form and through oral presentations.
• Collate, and present performance information, in an appropriate format, as required by any Operations Command Team and other internal customers.
• Review, analyse and interpret performance data using a variety of statistical techniques and undertake further research as required. To provide the Force with a more informed understanding of performance issues and underlying causes.
• Undertake survey research, including questionnaire design and the analysis and interpretation of responses.
• Prepare written and verbal reports using information from a variety of sources.
• Actively participate in briefings, meetings, seminars and workshops, to gather present and exchange performance related information.
• Where appropriate, provide advice and guidance in relation to the use and interpretation of published performance data.
• Be an active team member and support the Service Improvement Team in all aspects of performance management.
• Perform any other task commensurate with the role.
Essential Knowledge and Experience:
• A good standard of education.
• An understanding of research and statistical techniques. This will include the ability to devise a research proposal, determine the most appropriate methodology, formulate and test hypothesis.
• Experience in working in the business area of performance management, research or statistics.
• Ability to research, collate, analyse and interprets data from a wide range of sources including computerised and manual record systems.
• A significant level of skill in the use of Microsoft Office products, data mining tools and other relevant computer-based information and analysis systems.
Desirable Knowledge and Experience:
• Degree in a research/statistical discipline or other relevant subject (or demonstration of the intellectual abilities associated with that level).
• An understanding of performance management techniques.
• Knowledge and experience of SQL programming.
• Knowledge and experience of using SPSS.
• Knowledge and experience of using SFN / Six Sigma.

• Significant IT skills with the ability to work with new systems.

Hours and Location:
The core hours of this role will be office hours Monday to Friday (36.5 hours per week). The role will be located at Force Contact, C3, Park Lane.

Vetting:
Successful applicants will be required to pass Recruitment Vetting and Counter Terrorism Clearance scrutiny prior to commencing their role, this will include a full background & financial disclosure as part of the vetting process.

Appointment to this role will be dependent upon successfully medical checks, which may include a drugs test and if required a hearing test.
