Adjunct Faculty - Nursing Clinical Instructor

Department: Nursing ADN

Location: Framingham

Located
in Greater Boston, MassBay is a comprehensive, open-access community college,
offering associate degrees and certificate programs on three campuses in
Wellesley Hills, Framingham, and Ashland, Massachusetts.


Position Summary:

The ideal
candidate will join a vibrant educational community and have a desire and
ability to serve a population of students with various needs and
backgrounds. 

The candidate
is expected to commit to excellence in teaching and learning, collaboration and
professional development.  Adjunct
faculty are expected to deliver course materials in a learner-centered
environment conductive to engaging students in the learning process. The
faculty member in this position communicates consistently and effectively with
students, faculty and administrators, and responds to communications within a
24 hour period. The faculty is responsible for managing this course through
timely grading of assignments, providing substantial student feedback with
assignments, and submission of clinical evaluations, attendance and grades.

MassBay Community College seeks qualified part-time instructors in Nursing. The
instructor must have clinical experience, communicate effectively, assess
students objectively, and work as part of a team. Instructor responsibilities
include supervising Practical Nursing and/or Associate Degree Nursing students
in the clinical setting; guidance in completing assignments such as daily
clinical worksheets, concept maps, and care plans; and conducting student
evaluations. 

 

Key Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Demonstrated knowledge of subject matter and an
    awareness of new developments in the field;

  • Integrate theory content into the student(s)
    clinical assignment;

  • Communicate with course faculty regularly to
    track student progress or to develop performance improvement plans to
    support student learning;

  • Responsible for conducting clinical evaluations;

  • Assign,
    supervise, plan experiences, and evaluate students in practice learning
    environments based on course and program student learning outcomes;

  • Provides
    support, guidance, and instruction on all aspects of patient care while at
    the clinical facility or laboratory classroom;

  • Demonstrate procedures and patient care in clinical or laboratory nursing settings;

  • Provide
    feedback to the assistant dean of nursing, program director, and clinical
    placement coordinator on the appropriateness of the health care agency in
    terms of teaching/learning environments for students;

  • Provide feedback on student achievement of student
    learning outcomes;

  • Attend
    orientation on campus;

  • Participate
    in clinical faculty mentoring as identified by the Assistant Dean of
    Nursing and course faculty;

  • Participate
    in the Programs’ continuous improvement efforts, which include BORN and
    ACEN requirements;

  • Maintain
    appropriate paperwork and documentation required by the programs.

Minimum
Qualifications:

  • Current unencumbered Massachusetts RN license;

  • Recent clinical practice in relevant areas: All areas of nursing are encouraged to apply;

  • Must meet one of the following requirements:

  • MSN with a minimum of 2 years nursing experience; or

  • BSN with 2 years of nursing experience and matriculated in an MSN program with expected graduation within 5 years; or

  • BSN and a minimum of five years of full-time experience in nursing, or its equivalent and evidence of clinical competence in the area(s) of clinical instruction;

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills;

  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively and collaboratively with a diverse faculty, staff, and student body;

  • Clinical teaching experience preferred.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Sensitivity and commitment to the goals of Affirmative Action;

  • Experience working in a community college or similar environment;

  • Demonstrates commitment to working with students in need.

Salary Range: $72.64
- $82.83 DCE Per Credit
