Qualifications:
1. Education Level: The teacher must have a Bachelor's degree in Education and possess (or be eligible for) a certificate from the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education in the particular field(s) of teaching. Special Education certifications may be in one or more of the following areas: Special Education - Blind & Low Vision, Special Education - Deaf & Hard of Hearing, Early Childhood Special Education, Special Education - Mild/Moderate Cross Categorical (includes former certification areas of LD/BD/ED/EMH), Special Education - Severely Developmentally Disabled
2. Certification: Appropriate Missouri Teaching Certificate and Nonviolent Crisis Intervention certification.
3. Experience desired: Three years' experience teaching students with disabilities.
4. Other Requirements: Must successfully pass a background check that is satisfactory to the Board of Education. Understand and support the District's Comprehensive School Improvement Plan. Knowledge of the Special Education Process and laws. Excellent organizational skills, oral and written skills, time management, and telephone skills. Computer knowledge and assistive technology. Must successfully pass a background check that is satisfactory to the Board of Education.

The teacher must possess knowledge of instructional strategies, assessment practices, and effective classroom management and discipline techniques. The teacher must exhibit effective communication skills to build positive relationships with students, staff, parents, and community.
