SUMMARY:
The Chemical Dependency Counselor Assistant (CDCA) provides direct support in substance use treatment services under the supervision of licensed staff. This role assists with all stages of the recovery plan, helping clients engage in treatment and supporting staff in service delivery. The CDCA ensures that care is delivered with professionalism, confidentiality, and adherence to program and ethical standards.
This is a 1st shift position.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Under supervision, ensure all activities and assigned programs align with the mission, vision, and values of
New Day Recovery.
• Accurately complete intake and discharge documentation in a timely manner.
• Conduct assessments and develop individualized treatment plans as needed.
• Coordinate and facilitate referrals for ancillary services when appropriate.
• Communicate with courts, treatment centers, and other relevant services, conduct follow-ups as
necessary.
• Communicate clients’ needs to case manager, medical, and primary counselor.
• Provide group therapy / group education, actively engage clients, and facilitate family sessions upon
request.
• Deliver outreach services and case management support to primary clients as needed.
• Prepare written reports, maintain detailed notes, and summarize client progress in accordance with
program standards and ethical guidelines.
• Contribute to curriculum development and oversee client supervision activities.
• Actively participate in staffing and team meetings.
• Must be able to de-escalate and provide crisis interventions.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Successful completion of BCI/FBI background check and pre-employment drug screen.
• Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Active CDCA certification in good standing, including completion of 40 hours of education in chemical dependency counseling/clinical methods.
• CPR/First Aid Certification.
