The Volunteer Coordinator will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and managing all elements of the volunteer program, including the training and supervision of volunteers.
- Develops, implements, maintains, and evaluates the Volunteer program. Recommends program changes.
- Responsible for recruiting, training, supervising and retaining volunteers.
- Develops, implements, maintains, and evaluates Volunteer training and activities.
- In collaboration with the Recruiter and Business Office Manager (BOM) screens, selects, and tracks needed processes such as Criminal Background checks and TB screening.
- Assigns, coordinates, schedules, and supervises volunteers in collaboration with the IDG and identified needs for volunteer services.
- Performs supervisory activities including: joint home visits, observations made when the volunteer is providing services to hospice, verification of Volunteer Progress Notes/Activity Logs and clinical record documentation, observations of communications and involvement with the interdisciplinary group, and evaluations of the volunteer's performance.
- Participates as a member of the Interdisciplinary Team and attends IDG meetings.
- Collaborates with other members of the team regarding patient care, bereavement support, and pastoral care volunteers.
- Collaborates and cooperates with other departments to organize and facilitate special events/projects in areas such as of community education, health fairs, marketing, publicity, and fund raising, as enumerated in the Volunteer Program description and as requested.
- Coordinates and participates in the delivery of In-Service education, with an emphasis on the Group Delivery format, collaborates with staff to encourage volunteer participation in on-going in-service trainings.
- Conducts on-going evaluation of volunteer’s assignment and contributions and processes as appropriate.
- Visits patient/families, as appropriate, to interpret the role of the volunteer, to assess needs, and to offer volunteer support services.
- Responsible for volunteer documentation, including patient care records, training hours, maintains volunteer files as defined by policy.
- Demonstrates reliable performance with a caring attitude and loyalty to policies and philosophy and team members.
- Participate in staff training and educational programs as appropriate.
- Assists in other work responsibilities as requested or assigned by the Clinical Manager or Administrator.
- Individually responsible to conduct themselves in a safe manner during the performance of all job related duties. Also responsible to bring unsafe conditions to the attention of the person within the organization responsible for safety issues to adhere to all Personnel Policies.
