JOB OVERVIEW
The Visitor Centre is the primary arrival and information point for park visitors, as well as the administrative and operational hub for the NCC’s Québec urban lands and Gatineau Park staff.

As an Information Officer, you will provide front line services for visitors and clients of the Gatineau Park Visitor Centre and Philippe Lake Campground, both in person and by phone. This includes responding to requests for information and bookings, receiving visitor complaints and concerns, and supporting the daily operations of the Centre.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION
High School Diploma.

EXPERIENCE
One (1) to three (3) years of experience in client service.

KNOWLEDGE
•      Of Gatineau Park’s services and programs.
•      Of administrative and inventory procedures.

ABILITIES
•    To communicate effectively, provide relevant and accurate information.
•    To effectively address visitor concerns, issues and complaints.
•    To handle cash transactions, electronic payment systems, and prepare sales and statistical reports.

ASSETS
•    Post-secondary diploma in a related field such as Tourism, Communication, Public Relations, Leisure or Environment.
•    Experience delivering nature or heritage interpretation activities as a guide or interpreter.
•    Knowledge of the Outaouais regional tourism industry and offerings.

WORKING CONDITIONS
•    Lifting or handling papers and files, with an occasional requirement to box up and move boxes of files or copy paper weighing up to 9 kg (20 lb.). 
•    Standing and sitting at a counter.
•    Working indoors and outdoors, with occasional exposure to variable weather conditions in the field.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT    
•    Possess or eligible to obtain Reliability security clearance.
•    Linguistic profile: Bilingual CBC.
•    Position is in the National Capital Region. The person selected for this position must reside within a commutable distance from the workplace at the Gatineau Park Visitor’s Centre (33 Chemin Scott, Chelsea, Québec) and the Philippe Lake campground (Chemin du lac Philippe, Québec).
•    The person selected for this position is expected to work on site.
