Position Summary
Monitor and update quality systems for incoming raw materials, production, and finished products. Ensure compliance with all regulatory, customer, and company requirements. Direct, develop, train, and supervise Quality Assurance Technicians involved in inspection and quality control procedures to ensure all quality standards are followed.
Essential Job Functions
- Implement quality control objectives and coordinate with production procedures, in cooperation with other managers, to maximize quality and reliability while minimizing costs.
- Ensure all quality assurance documentation is completed in accordance with company policies.
- Manage the receiving program, including testing and standards definition for incoming raw materials.
- Execute effective methods to measure quality across departments; recommend process improvements; and plan, promote, and organize quality and reliability training activities.
- Perform daily walk‑throughs of all departments to ensure housekeeping and food handling practices meet compliance requirements. Drive plant improvement by providing proactive solutions that support Quality and Safety goals.
- Provide guidance in handling customer complaints to ensure appropriate resolution.
- Analyze and document department metrics; provide timely, accurate, and relevant data and analysis to support effective business management.
- May manage and coordinate the Quality Assurance department, including recruiting, hiring, training staff, evaluating performance, and recommending or initiating promotions, transfers, or disciplinary action.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent
- One year of leadership experience
- One year of quality assurance experience
Preferred Qualifications
- Two years of leadership experience
- Two years of quality assurance experience
- Knowledge of Food Safety practices (HACCP, GMPs, SOPs, SSOPs, SQF)
- Bilingual
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Ability to understand Quality Standards, SSOPs, applicable prerequisite programs, and HACCP
- Strong troubleshooting and problem‑resolution skills
- Ability to work efficiently and accurately under pressure, meet deadlines, and maintain a professional demeanor
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Environmental / Working Conditions
- Ability to work overnight shifts, weekends, holidays, and various shifts (1st, 2nd, and/or 3rd)
- Ability to work in temperature conditions between 35°F and 95°F, with occasional exposure to higher temperatures
Physical Requirements
- Regularly required to stand and use hands and fingers in repetitive motions
- Frequently required to stand, walk, and reach above shoulder height
- Occasionally required to stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, crawl, and communicate verbally
- Ability to lift a minimum of 10 pounds
- Vision requirements include close vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to focus
