Qualifications:


 


Bilingual may be required for respective positions


College hours for Title I campus 48 required or a score of 464 on the ParaPro test


College hours 15 or high school diploma or GED (with a passing score of 464 on the ParaPro test) for Non-Title I campus


Communicate and work with students


Maintain effective working relationships


Minimum clerical skills


Good physical and emotional condition


Work with confidential material


Paraprofessional Educational Aide II certificate required once employed

Primary Purpose:


 


Assist the teacher with instructional needs as appropriate


 


Major Duties and Responsibilities:



  1. Assist teachers with the preparation, implementation, and data collection of student academic, behavioral, and functional goals, accommodations, modifications, and delivery of supports

  2. Deliver accommodations, modifications, and other supports to students with special education services in whole group, small group, or individually, as described in the IEP.

  3. Assist teachers with classroom management and behavioral plans. Perform other duties as assigned.

  4. Maintain confidential student records.

  5. Other SHARS Duties as assigned.

  6. Provide Personal Care as identified in applicable student IEPs.


Working Conditions:


 


Maintain emotional control under stress. Frequent standing, stooping, bending, kneeling, pushing, and pulling. Move small stacks of textbooks, media equipment, desks, and other classroom or adaptive equipment. May be required to lift and position students with physical disabilities; control behavior through physical restraint; and assist nonambulatory students. Expose to biological hazards.
