We are seeking an experienced Roll Form Technician who will be responsible for maintaining and optimizing roll forming processes used to shape various profiles across multiple value streams. This role combines mechanical, electrical, and process engineering expertise to ensure efficient, high-quality production in a manufacturing environment.

 

 

What You’ll Do

 

  1. Lead the setup and optimization of roll forming lines, including precise mill gapping, guide alignment, and press/feeder speed calibration to ensure consistent, high-quality output.
  2. Interpret and apply part and roll tooling prints, making accurate equipment adjustments to meet exact specifications.
  3. Proactively identify and address damaged or worn components to minimize downtime and maintain operational integrity.
  4. Collaborate with Engineering to recommend and implement process improvements that drive efficiency and product quality.
  5. Operate and fine-tune critical equipment, including:
    • Un-coiler systems
    • Steel straighteners
    • Feeders
    • Lubrication systems
    • Presses
    • Conveyors
    • Mills (including gapping and profile adjustments)
    • Guide systems
  6. Execute and support product changeovers, ensuring minimal disruption and adherence to production schedules.
  7. Verify parts against technical prints to maintain strict compliance with quality standards.
  8. Disassemble, reassemble, and align roll stands and tooling with precision to maintain optimal performance.
  9. Perform or assist with mechanical repairs, leveraging technical skills to resolve issues quickly.
  10. Utilize hand and power tools, cranes, and material handling devices safely and effectively to support manufacturing operations.
  11. Champion continuous improvement initiatives by identifying opportunities to enhance productivity, reduce waste, and improve safety.
  12. Maintain a strong presence on the shop floor, engaging with team members to troubleshoot issues and ensure smooth operations.
  13. Assume other duties as assigned by management, demonstrating flexibility and commitment to team success.
  14. Document repairs, changes, and improvements made to control systems.
  15. Identify recurring equipment issues and assist with root cause analysis and corrective actions.
  16. Work closely with Maintenance, Production, Engineering, and Operations teams to support production goals.

Position Requirements:

 

  1. High School Diploma or GED required.
  2. Minimum of 2 - 3 years of experience in a roll-forming position.
  3. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure.
  4. Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to continuous improvement.
  5. Strong understanding of manufacturing processes.
  6. Self-motivated with the ability to work independently.
  7. Strong interpersonal and communication skills; comfortable working with individuals at all levels of the organization.
  8. Ability to work flexible hours as required to support production and project needs.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

 

  1. 5 years of roll-forming experience.
  2. Continuous learner with a focus on personal development and adaptability.
  3. Willingness to be visible on the shop floor and engage with team members daily.
  4. Ability to travel occasionally.

 

Other Job Responsibilities and Physical Requirements:

  • Standing / Walking
    • This position requires standing and walking throughout the entire shift while working on the production floor.
  • Bending / Kneeling / Crouching
    • Frequent bending, kneeling, crouching, climbing stairs and/or ladders may be required for specific work tasks.
  • Lifting / Carrying
    • Must be able to lift 45lbs. unassisted with or without reasonable accommodation, continuously and frequently overhead.
    • Maximum individual lift limit is 45 pounds.
  • Pushing / Pulling
    • Regular pushing of carts is required; occasional pulling is needed for steering.
    • A force of up to 50 pounds is required to move a fully loaded cart.
  • Manual Dexterity
    • Must be able to grip small objects (such as cutting tools) and perform repetitive hand and wrist motions to cut rubber, assemble materials, or complete other detailed tasks.
    • Frequent use of computer, keyboard, tablet, and/or scanners.
