Community Engagement Specialist

JOB PROFILE SUMMARY
The Community Engagement Specialist plays a key role in advancing Peckham's mission by supporting recruitment and candidate sourcing for Peckham's social enterprises. This position focuses on developing and maintaining strong relationships with community partners that serve individuals with disabilities and other barriers to employment. The Community Engagement Specialist takes an active role in outreach, networking, and talent connection initiatives to identify and engage individuals with barriers to employment. Through collaboration with both internal staff and external partners, the Community Engagement Specialist fosters a robust talent pipeline and supports Peckham's commitment to creating inclusive, meaningful employment opportunities.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Supports recruitment and talent sourcing efforts for Team Member positions across Peckham’s social enterprises, including Contact Center Solutions, Manufacturing, Third Party Logistics and Fulfillment Services, and Custodial Services.

  • Perform full-cycle recruitment, partnering with hiring managers to post requisitions in Workday (HRIS), source and screen candidates, conduct interviews, and coordinate the selection and hiring process to ensure the timely placement of qualified team members.

  • Facilitate talent tours, participate in career fairs and networking events to promote inclusive job opportunities and connect individuals with disabilities and other barriers to meaningful employment at Peckham.

  • Build and maintain relationships with referral sources and partnering community agencies and organizations.

  • Collect recruitment and retention data on an ongoing basis and work to improve pre-hire and onboarding processes.

  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders and Community Engagement leadership on process improvements to benefit candidate flow and team member experience.

  • Facilitate interviews and hiring processes for internal transitions, including part-time to full-time and full-time to part-time opportunities, ensuring consistency, fairness, and alignment with organizational needs.

  • Administer background checks and drug screens through third-party providers and adjudicate results to ensure compliant, timely, and informed hiring decisions.

MINMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent

  • 1 - 3 years experience in recruitment, talent sourcing, community outreach, workforce development, or related roles

  • Experience working with and utilizing data, dashboards, and managing projects

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Proficiency in managing multiple recruitment initiatives and community outreach efforts simultaneously

  • Excellent relationship building skills

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field of study

  • Experience building and maintaining community partnerships

  • Experience using Workday Recruiting functions - Preferred

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office 365 (Word, Excel, Teams) desired - Preferred
