Position Location
This position will be located onsite in Fallon, Nevada.
Job Overview
Responsible for identifying, removal and disposal of a variety of hazardous waste/material. Neutralize and clean up materials that are flammable, corrosive, or toxic. Work environments for hazmat workers vary with the material they are handling.
Responsibilities
Essential Duties & Job Functions:
- Collect, weigh, segregate and consolidate all hazardous waste from satellite cages and boxes 3 times per week, or as needed.
- Conduct monthly above ground (fuels) storage inspections.
- Process waste for storage.
- Record and maintain accurate records of waste.
- Inspect accumulation areas for compliance with regulations.
- Inspect Oil/Water Separators/Catch basins.
- Inspect oil booms/ditches.
- Knowledgeable of and comply with DOD and EPA regulations.
- Stand a 24-hour beeper duty for one week on a rotation basis.
- Perform routine cleaning of assigned work areas as needed.
- Pump drums of liquid into above ground storage tank.
- Label and store hazardous waste.
- General knowledge of hand tools.

- Using personal protective equipment (PPE) when required.
- Use of proper housekeeping practices.
- Timely, cost-effective performance of duties.
- Working closely and harmoniously with fellow workers and customers.
- Adherence to all safety rules and regulations.
Job Requirements
Mandatory:
- One year of comparable experience of handling hazardous waste/materials preferred.
- Must possess or capable of possessing and maintain a valid Nevada State Class “B” commercial driver’s license with a “H” Hazardous endorsement within six (6) months of hire and maintain an acceptable driving record.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Must have 40 hour training per 29 CFR, Part 1910.120, Hazardous Waste Operations andEmergency Response, Subparts A through J (HAZWOPER). Refresher training will be accepted if proof of initial training is supplied.
- Documented training for 49 CFR DLA/CECOS Transportation of Hazardous Materials/Hazardous Waste for DoD or within three months of hire. Refresher training will be accepted if proof of initial training is supplied.
- Current RCRA certification or within three months of hire. Refresher training will be accepted if proof of initial training is supplied.
- Capable of moving 55 gallon drums, up to 70 pounds, bending, and standing on feet for extended period of time.
- Capable of meeting and maintaining company physical and security requirements, including respirator qualification.
- Ability to successfully pass background checks for CAC card and drug testing requirements.
- Must be able to wear a half face or full-face respirator mask.
- Must be able to wear up to a Level B Hazmat suit.
- Must be able to wear a SCBA (self-contained breathing apparatus).
- Operate a 6000 pound or more forklift.
- Must be able to comprehend, read, speak, and write proficiently in the English language.
- Ability to deal with a variety of people in a professional and courteous manner in diversified situations.
Preferred:
- 80 hour Certification in Transportation of Hazardous Materials in accordance with 49 CFR Part 172, Subpart H (172.704) DOD 4500.9R Chapter 204 AFMAN 24-2041, DGR, IMDGC to certify shipments.
- Strong math skills.
Working Conditions:
- Work is typically performed indoors and outdoors. Outdoor work is subject to temperature extremes and inclement weather conditions
- Work hours are subject to change with overtime work as needed
- Workers are subject to hazards that may cause personal bodily harm: cuts, bruises, burns, elevated noise levels, etc.
