    THE SCHOOL BOARD OF HIGHLANDS COUNTY

     

    POSITION TITLE: Lifeguard

    ASSIGNMENT: Lifeguard

    Summer Employment Notice

    All summer employment positions are offered on an "at-will" basis. The duration listed is an estimated timeframe and does not guarantee continued employment for that period. Actual employment length may vary depending on student enrollment, program participation, and other operational needs.
     

     

     

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

    1. Must be American Red Cross certified in:
      1. Lifeguard Training
      2. CPR for the Professional Rescuer
        • Standard First Aid
    2. Must be at least 16 years of age
    3. Satisfactory clearance of a criminal history records check and drug screening

     

     

    ADDITIONAL DESIRED JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

    1. Must be able to swim 500 yards in 10 minutes or less
    2. Must be able to tread water for 2 minutes holding a 10-pound brick
    3. Must be a reliable, mature, and physically fit person
    4. Must be able to work weekends and evenings as well as mornings and afternoons
    5. Must work well with other members of the safety team
    6. Must be able to handle suggestions and concerns in a positive manner

    PRIMARY PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Specific duties assigned under the direction of the Pool Manager and/or Coordinator of Swim Program

    ADDITIONAL DUTIES:

    Performs other duties as assigned

    TERM:

    Length of contract and number of hours worked are determined by specific allocation as approved annually during planning-budgeting process

    APPRAISAL:

    Performance will be appraised annually in accordance with School Board Policy

    Hourly rate as approved annually during planning-budgeting process
