- Must be able to swim 500 yards in 10 minutes or less
- Must be able to tread water for 2 minutes holding a 10-pound brick
- Must be a reliable, mature, and physically fit person
- Must be able to work weekends and evenings as well as mornings and afternoons
- Must work well with other members of the safety team
- Must be able to handle suggestions and concerns in a positive manner
- Honesty, dependability, punctuality, accuracy, and diligence on the job
- Ability to relate well to fellow workers, parents, students, and the general public
- Habits of dress, grooming, and personal conduct suitable to the work site and school environment
