Position Summary
The WAC 504 Coordinator & MTSS Specialist leads the development, implementation, and ongoing management of 504 accommodation plans to ensure students receive appropriate, individualized support for academic success. As part of the MTSS Specialist team, this role partners closely with the MTSS Department Lead to support broader student support systems, flexing across MTSS initiatives based on student needs and organizational priorities.
Essential Duties (Top 5 Roles)
1) Lead and Manage 504 Plan Process
- Develop, review, and manage all 504 Plans in compliance with applicable guidelines
- Coordinate meetings with mentors, families, and internal stakeholders to align on accommodations and student support strategies
- Monitor implementation fidelity and ensure accountability across mentors and staff
- Serve as the primary point of contact for all 504-related communication and support
- Maintain accurate documentation and ensure timely updates of all 504 records
- Assist with authorizer site review and evidence collection
2) Support MTSS Systems and Processes
- In alignment with the MTSS Department Lead, support MTSS initiatives based on student needs and organizational priorities
- Assist in organizing and facilitating RTI/MTSS meetings as needed
- Contribute to the development and refinement of MTSS systems, tools, and best practices
- Collaborate with MTSS Specialists to ensure alignment across student support strategies
3) Partner with Mentors and Families
- Build strong, trust-based relationships with mentors and families through proactive communication
- Guide mentors in implementing appropriate academic and behavioral interventions
- Support families in understanding student needs and available support strategies
- Encourage family engagement through structured support plans and regular updates
- Create an atmosphere of collaboration and shared ownership during meetings
4) Coordinate Tiered Student Support
- Support oversight of Tier 1 and Tier 2 interventions in collaboration with the MTSS team
- Partner with Special Education teams and interventionists on Tier 3 coordination and Child Find processes when applicable
- Assist in planning targeted interventions for students requiring additional academic support
5) Use Data to Drive Student Support Decisions
- Analyze multiple data sources (Star, CMAS, IXL, mentor input, family input) to inform student support plans
- Support mentors in interpreting and applying student data effectively
- Monitor student progress and adjust interventions based on outcomes
- Contribute to a culture of data-informed decision-making across the MTSS framework

Minimum Qualifications
- BA/BS in Education or related field
- Experience supporting or managing 504 plans or similar accommodation processes
- Experience with MTSS/RTI systems and student intervention strategies
- Strong understanding of academic and behavioral progress monitoring tools
- Ability to interpret student data and translate insights into actionable plans
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to build relationships with mentors and families
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
- Proficiency with educational technology systems and data tracking tools
- Ability to facilitate meetings and guide collaborative conversations
- Ability to adapt in a dynamic, student-centered environment
- Ability to pass a criminal background check
