Job Title: Direct Support Professional (DSP)
Location: Avon & Canton, CT
Employment Type: Full-Time or Part-Time
Schedule: Mon-Fri, 1st shift; must be willing to travel between Avon and Canton
Pay: Starting at $19.25/hour
Work Location: In-person


About the Role:

Favarh – The Arc of the Farmington Valley is seeking compassionate and dedicated Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) to join our team in Canton and Avon, CT. As a DSP, you will play a direct and meaningful role in the lives of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD) by promoting independence, community engagement, and personal growth.

You’ll be responsible for assisting with daily living skills, planning and participating in enriching activities, and supporting individuals during community outings. Some participants may require support with personal care and hygiene. This role is ideal for individuals who are patient, empathetic, and passionate about inclusion.

No experience? No problem. We provide full training to help you succeed in this rewarding position.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide respectful support for individuals with I/DD in program and community settings

  • Assist with activities of daily living, including personal hygiene as needed

  • Plan and facilitate engaging enrichment programs and community outings

  • Foster independence, inclusion, and skill development

  • Represent individuals with positivity in the community

  • Maintain accurate records and follow agency protocols


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must be at least 21 years old

  • High School Diploma or GED required

  • 1 year of experience in Human Services preferred

  • Valid, non-restricted Connecticut Driver’s License (minimum 3 years U.S. driving history)

  • Clean driving record and reliable transportation

  • Ability to safely lift at least 75 lbs.

  • Ability to stand, walk, and sit for extended periods

  • Patience, empathy, and a commitment to treating others with dignity

Preferred:

  • Experience as a CNA or in healthcare
