You will act as a technical advisor to the Communications and Security Solutions (CSS), Electrical and Electronic Solutions (EES), and Utility and Broadband Solutions (UBS) sales organizations. The team proactively works with all global sales representatives and supports all large, complex, and global opportunities. The team also supports Corporate Marketing, Supply Chain Solutions, and Category Management groups as Subject Matter Experts.

This role also supports pre‑sales AV solution development and post‑sales technical execution, including system design, documentation, and Tier‑3 commissioning support for complex AV environments.

Responsibilities:

  • Establish WESCO’s credibility with end‑user customers and deliver value throughout the sales cycle as the technical liaison.
  • Position standards‑based technology solutions and education that meet customer needs.
  • Provide deliverables such as BOMs, design documentation (Visio/CAD, iBWave, JVSG), and written specifications that clearly articulate WESCO’s value, including supply chain and global capabilities.
  • Gather customer requirements and develop Bill of Materials (BOM), project details, and supporting documentation for AV and related technology solutions.
  • Assist account managers with customer walk‑throughs, technical inquiries, and pre‑sales meetings to ensure continuity from initial engagement through project sign‑off.
  • Work with engineering teams to develop shop drawings, schematic designs, and other deliverables required for project execution.
  • Support creation of Statements of Work and labor estimates in collaboration with Project Management and Service Delivery teams.
  • Utilize the Core Engineering and Solutions Support teams to scale project execution, improve turnaround time, and increase product attachment rates.
  • Support Tier‑3 commissioning of complex AV spaces and large‑scale deployment efforts, including troubleshooting, system validation, and documentation review.
  • Manage technical aspects of assigned projects, ensuring build quality, system completeness, and adherence to installation drawings and schematics.
  • Troubleshoot systems to identify hardware failures, restore functionality, and coordinate RMAs or manufacturer support.
  • Provide escalation support to project engineers and field technicians via phone or onsite assistance.
  • Approve post‑sales engineering documentation and ensure accuracy of system designs and deliverables.
  • Document hardware failures, repairs, installation details, and system changes.
  • Triage onsite issues and delegate tasks based on priority and severity.
  • Act as a vendor liaison with Technology Alliance Partner (TAP) manufacturers and identify opportunities to specify partner products.
  • Deliver technical presentations and hands‑on training in client meetings, seminars, and industry events.
  • Support customer visits to WESCO’s Corporate Lab for technology evaluation and serve as SME when required.
  • Participate in advanced technical training and continued education to maintain expertise in system architectures and emerging technologies.
  • Achieve and maintain industry‑recognized credentials relevant to assigned disciplines and customer requirements.

Qualifications:

  • Associate degree or commensurate years of technical experience.
  • Licenses/Certificates/Designations based on technical field of expertise.
  • 9+ years of experience in technical design, implementation, and/or commissioning.
  • Experience designing using Visio, AutoCAD 2D, JVSG, or iBwave.
  • 5+ years installing or commissioning audio‑visual systems, including event‑style AV environments.
  • Proven experience reading and interpreting architectural, electrical, structural, and AV system drawings.
  • Strong understanding of AV system operation, Audio/Video/Control integration, and Tier‑3 troubleshooting.
  • Intermediate computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite and Google Workspace.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with a customer‑centric mindset.
  • Ability to think and work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage workload with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to travel 10%–25%, including domestic and international travel as business needs require.
  • Valid driver’s license and safe driving record.
  • BICSI RCDD, OSP, NTS, or DCDC preferred.
  • CTS, CTS‑I, CTS‑D, NSCA, or CEDIA certification preferred.
  • DMC‑T or DMC‑E certification preferred.
