    Job Title: High School Special Education Teacher & Case Manager (Grades 9-12)

    Job Summary

    Salem School District is seeking a highly organized and communicative High School Special Education Teacher to serve as a Case Manager and Instructional Specialist. This role is central to the success of students with disabilities in a secondary setting, focusing on the delivery of IEP services, the implementation of accommodations in the general education environment, and the preparation of students for post-secondary transition.

    Essential Duties & Responsibilities

    • Active Case Management: Manage a caseload of students with varying disabilities (LD, OHI, ASD, etc.), ensuring all IEPs are legally compliant and documented.
    • IEP Service Delivery: Provide direct specialized instruction in a variety of settings (Resource Room, Co-taught, or Consultative models) focusing on executive functioning, academic support, and self-advocacy.
    • General Education Consultation: Partner with content-area teachers (Math, English, Science, etc.) to ensure the high-fidelity implementation of accommodations and modifications within the general education classroom.
    • Multidisciplinary Coordination: Facilitate ongoing consultation with OT, PT, SLP, and BCBAs to ensure therapeutic goals are integrated into the student's high school schedule.
    • Meeting Facilitation: Schedule and lead IEP meetings, demonstrating strong verbal communication and the ability to build consensus among diverse stakeholders.
    • Data-Driven Progress: Maintain organized records and analyze student data to report on goal progress quarterly.

    Required Qualifications & Credentials

    Candidates must meet the following New Hampshire Department of Education (NHDOE) standards:

    • NH Certification: Must hold (or be eligible for) NHDOE Endorsement #1900 (General Special Education).
      • The District is willing to support high quality candidates currently enrolled in a NHDOE Alternative Certification program (Statement of Eligibility/Site Based Learning Plan).
    • Education: Bachelor's degree in Special Education or a related field (e.g., Secondary Education, Psychology, or Sociology).
    • Skills: Demonstrated ability to learn digital IEP systems (e.g., Frontline/NHSEIS) quickly and maintain a high level of organizational efficiency.

    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

    • Secondary Focus: Understanding of credit requirements, graduation pathways, and the impact of disabilities on adolescent development.
    • Communication: Exceptional written and oral communication skills for professional correspondence with staff and families.
    • Adaptability: Ability to "learn quickly" in a fast-paced high school environment with shifting schedules and priorities.
    • Professionalism: Ability to maintain confidentiality and navigate complex social/academic dynamics within a large high school faculty.
