Job Description

Reardan High School is seeking a passionate and dedicated individual to join our athletic department as a High School Girls Soccer Assistant Coach for the upcoming seasonal program. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of soccer techniques and strategies, excellent communication skills, and the ability to motivate and inspire young athletes. Notice of Vacant Position: High School Girls Soccer Assistant Coach
The District
Reardan-Edwall School District encompasses a large geographic area including the towns of
Reardan and Edwall. The District includes one elementary school and one secondary school.
Our school district has a deep focus on our core values, which serve as a guide for our
work together.
Reardan schools receive strong support from the community. The successful candidate will

GENERAL SUMMARY
An Assistant Coach supports the head or main coach, ensures that equipment and facilities are
maintained, and performs administrative duties. Assistant Coaches also schedule and supervise
practice sessions, maintain training equipment and organize team events. Assists the Head
Coach to provide leadership, supervision, organization and create a vision for the entire program
grades seven - twelve.
Qualifications
● Close affiliation with and commitment to Reardan-Edwall School District’s
Mission, Vision and Values.
● Successful passing of the fingerprint process, background check and safe schools
training.
● High school diploma or equivalent.
● Must be 19 years of age or older.
● Prior coaching experience is preferred but not required.
● Extensive knowledge in the sport to which you are the coach.
● Have successfully worked with other coaches at the same level or as assistants.
● Excellent organizational and communication skills.
● Current First Aid card required.
● Flexible and punctual.
Education
● Bachelor’s Degree preferred

Job Duties
1. Work cooperatively with students, classroom teachers, parent/s, and administration while
performing assigned duties and responsibilities.
2. Formulate objectives for the coming sport season and incorporate this into a daily
practice plan.
3. Be knowledgeable of new ideas and techniques by attending clinics and reading sports
related material.
4. Be knowledgeable of WIAA sport specific and general rules and regulations for the new
sport season.
5. Maintain WIAA coaches’ requirements as detailed in the WIAA handbook 20.0.0 – 20.7.0:
20.5.1 Be a high school graduate or have completed a graduation equivalency
diploma (GED) program.
A. Be at least 21 years of age to be a head coach.
B. Be at least 19 years of age to be an assistant coach except as in c. below.
C. High school students may serve as middle level volunteer assistant
coaches during the designated middle school season when under the direct
supervision of the middle level coach. These high school students must
meet WIAA coaches standards minimum requirements and hold a valid First
Aid Certification and a valid CPR card.
20.5.2 Annually complete the WIAA general rules clinic and the WIAA approved rule
clinic for the sport being coached.
A. All high school and middle level paid coaches and volunteers acting as
head high school head coaches.
20.5.3 Hold a valid current First Aid Certification or have completed a School
District approved Athletic Training/Sports Medicine course equivalent to the Red
Cross First Aid Card training or be enrolled in a First Aid class. .
20.5.4 Hold a valid current CPR Certification or be enrolled in an approved CPR
Course.
20.5.5 Have successfully completed Concussion recognition and management with
Return to Play Protocols training as required by Washington State Law that must be
renewed every three (3) years.
20.5.6 Have successfully completed Sudden Cardiac Arrest Awareness and Training
as required by Washington State Law that must be renewed every three (3) years.
6. Maintain, care, inventory and selection of proper equipment.
7. Review district policy on accident reporting and insurance procedures.
8. Assist the Head Coach in establishing leave times of all regular season contests with the
AD and transportation supervisor.
9. Ensure that all athletes have transportation and have exited the building before leaving
(ie. Coach is the last to leave the building after practice or games).
10. Secures building after practices (when others are not scheduled) and after returning from
away games.
11. Assist the Head Coach in conducting a pre-season meeting and provide the AD with a
participant list (updated weekly).
12. Models appropriate and cooperative behavior, including protecting confidential
information, consistent with the district ethical guidelines.
13. Be flexible and punctual.

14. Assist the Head Coach in providing athletes with information about out of season
opportunities including summer camps, summer leagues, AAU, etc. and/or provide
summer camp opportunities.
15. Perform other duties as required by the Building Principal/Immediate Supervisor
Conditions

Mental Demands
Required to deal with a wide range of student behaviors and academic abilities, which may
include distraught or difficult students and the potential of distraught or difficult parents. This
position also requires extended work days and weekend commitments.
Physical Demands
Potentially exposed to ordinary infectious diseases as carried by students; exposed to student
noise levels. May be required to lift up to 50 pounds. Required to stand for prolonged periods;
required to hold equipment in proper position for varying lengths of time; may be exposed to
inclement weather.
Pay Range
$3542 - $4448
