Full-Time Fire Life & Safety Director (FLSD)
Location: Manhattan, NY
Schedule: Monday through Friday with alternating Saturdays
Pay Rate: $30.00/hour
Position Details:
The Fire Life & Safety Director (FLSD) is responsible for overseeing all fire and life safety operations within a residential property in Manhattan. This role ensures full compliance with FDNY regulations, internal emergency procedures, and building safety protocols. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, composed under pressure, and capable of leading emergency response efforts while maintaining a professional presence.
Key Responsibilities:
Serve as the designated Fire Life & Safety Director, ensuring compliance with all FDNY codes and regulations
Respond immediately to fire alarms, emergencies, and life safety incidents, coordinating response efforts as required
Monitor and operate fire life safety systems, access control, CCTV, and alarm systems
Conduct inspections of post areas, safety equipment, and security systems to ensure operational readiness
Review daily memos, alerts, and security notifications to remain informed of building conditions
Maintain accurate daily logs, reports, and incident documentation
Communicate clearly with the Operations Desk, property management, and leadership regarding incidents or deficiencies
Maintain a high level of professionalism, alertness, and situational awareness at all times
Requirements:
Valid NYS Fire Life & Safety Director Certification (F-89 or equivalent) – Required
Valid NYS Security Guard License – Required
Minimum 1 year of fire life safety or building security experience
Strong emergency response, leadership, and communication skills
Ability to remain calm and effective in high-pressure situations
