Software Quality Assurance Engineer

About our position

The Software Quality Assurance Engineer performs testing duties proficiently and independently and is responsible for becoming an owner/subject matter expert in multiple functional areas of the ASI products. The QA Engineer works within a team, utilizing the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) methodology, actively collaborating with developers throughout the agile development process to ensure delivery of high-quality software by integrating testing early and frequently, leveraging automation, and focusing on continuous improvement. This includes designing and executing test strategies aligned with the agile development process, creating and maintaining test cases based on user stories and requirements, participating in sprint reviews and retrospectives to discuss quality metrics and improvement areas, and contributing to the overall quality culture within the Agile Release Train (ART).


What you’ll be doing

  • Performing manual and automated testing tasks, including exploratory, end-to-end, regression, API and UI testing.
  • Developing and maintains test plans and test cases.
  • Debugging and verifying customer-reported bugs.
  • Participating in sprint planning and actively contributing to defining acceptance criteria
  • Analyzing and improving testing processes, identifying dependencies/risks during sprint planning/ priming.
  • Working independently and collaboratively with other members of the development team to achieve continuous improvement of software quality.
  • Performing other job-related duties and responsibilities as may be assigned from time to time.


What we want you to have

  • BS/BA in relevant field or equivalent practical experience. 
  • 3+ years of software quality assurance and testing experience.
  • Experience with Agile Development Process.
  • Strong experience writing test plans and test cases, and writing/executing automated UI tests.
  • Experience with Visual Studio and Azure DevOps.
  • Experience with BDD or TDD testing methodologies. 
  • Experience with accessibility, API, performance, security, and compliance testing.
  • Good SQL and database knowledge (preferably Azure SQL).
  • Good understanding of version control (Git and Team Foundation Version Control).
  • Very detail oriented and organized, with strong time management skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. 
  • Must be able to work independently and as a team player, with the ability to work cross-functionally.
  • Must be flexible, adaptable, and comfortable with ambiguity.
  • Must be able to stay focused and maintain quality standards in a fast-paced environment.

Compensation
 The compensation for this position is determined based on a wide variety of factors, including but not limited to an individual’s skill set, experience, training, certifications, education, as well as business needs and internal equity. Employees are typically not hired at the top of the range for their role. A reasonable estimate of the current compensation range for this position is $75,000 - $90,000.
