Summary
Entiat School District is seeking reliable and hardworking individuals to serve as Substitute Custodians on an as-needed basis. Substitute Custodians play a vital role in maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming learning environment for students, staff, and community members by filling in when regular custodial staff are absent.
Responsibilities
-Perform daily cleaning and maintenance tasks in assigned areas (classrooms, offices, gyms, locker rooms, restrooms, and common spaces).
-Vacuum, sweep, mop, dust, and sanitize surfaces.
-Clean restrooms and restock supplies.
-Empty and dispose of trash properly.
-Secure assigned areas by locking doors, turning off lights, and monitoring for unauthorized access.
-Assist with occasional groundskeeping, snow removal, or furniture moving as needed.
-Follow safely procedures and use cleaning chemicals and equipment properly.
-Communicate effectively and courteously wish staff, students, and the public.
Requirements
-High school diploma or equivalent.
-Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
-Physical ability to perform all custodial duties, including lifting up to 50 lbs.
-Ability to work independently, take initialitve, and apply good judgement.
-Flexibility to work on short notice and adapt to varying schedules.
-Must pass a background check as required by the school district.
-Cleared fingerprints from the Washington State Patrol and FBI must be on file with OSPI. Fingerprint appointments are available at the North Central Educational Service District. The cost of fingerprints is the responsibility of the substitute. (Please contact the Entiat School District office for more information.)

This position does not qualify for health insurance or paid leave benefits.
*Substitutes are employed at will. The district may deactivate a sub from the active substitute system at any time. A substitute can remove themselves from the substitute system with or without notice. An active account in the substitute system does not guarantee an assignment. If a reasonable amount of assignments are not worked within any given school year, the district may deactivate the sub with or without notice.
Immigration Reform and Control Act Requirement: The recommended applicant, if not a current regular employee, will be required to complete an INS I-9 form and must provide proof of employment eligibility prior to working.
Disclosure Statement and Record Check: Pursuant to Chapter 486, Washington Laws of 1987, the recommended applicant, if not a current regular employee, will be required to complete a disclosure form indicating whether he or she has been convicted of crimes against persons listed in the law. In addition, a background check, based on fingerprints, will be requested from the Washington State Patrol & FBI. Employment is conditional based upon completion of the record check.
