What We Need:
We are looking for an Engineering Manager to join our HNI Workplace Furnishings team in Muscatine, Iowa! In this role, you will lead the Engineering Center of Excellence at our Highway 61 facility, managing cross-functional engineering teams focused on three key areas aimed at improving business agility and profitability. What You Will Do:
- Provide strategic technical decisions and solutions by creating plans, prioritizing, delegating, and managing all engineering activities and deliverables for the facility
- Deliver broad technical leadership by effectively communicating technical information to non-technical stakeholders
- Lead the development and implementation of Project Management processes within the Highway 61 facility
In your Day-to-Day, you will:
- Manage, support, and evaluate engineers’ performance, providing coaching and development opportunities
- Oversee project logistics and allocate technical resources to meet business demands
- Identify opportunities to optimize performance in safety, quality, delivery, and cost, utilizing metrics to manage and improve outcomes
- Support plant-level technical escalations
- Conduct process audits and Gemba walks to uncover gaps and improvement opportunities
- Ensure a successful onboarding experience for all engineering team members
What You Have:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Organizational Leadership, or a relevant field
- 5+ years of experience in manufacturing operations, including leadership and lean implementation
- Strong influence and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate across functions and levels of authority
