Summer School Teacher (K–5 Literacy Program)
Position Summary
The Summer School Teacher provides direct instruction in reading to elementary students performing at or below grade level. The program is designed to strengthen foundational literacy skills and give students a strong start for the upcoming school year.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver engaging, standards-aligned literacy instruction
- Provide small group instruction and targeted interventions
- Use student data to guide instruction
- Collaborate with instructional aides to support student learning
- Maintain a structured and positive classroom environment
Program Details
- Dates: August 3 – August 13
- Schedule: Monday–Thursday, 4 hours per day
- Location: Dowagiac Middle School
- Students: Up to 450 K–5 students
Qualifications
- Valid teaching certificate (elementary preferred)
- Experience teaching reading and working with diverse learners
- Ability to collaborate and support a team-based environment
