NPD Product Technical Lead – CAD
PacSci EMC – Chandler, AZ 
 

Position Summary
The NPD Product Technical Lead (PTL) for the CAD product line is a key first-line technical leadership role within PacSci EMC. This position is responsible for leading and guiding a team of engineers while also directly contributing to hands-on product development efforts. The PTL provides leadership across New Product Development (NPD) activities including engineering execution, design review leadership, customer technical engagement, workload balancing, mentoring, and engineering process discipline.

This role operates in a highly collaborative and fast-paced environment supporting safety-critical aerospace and defense products. The ideal candidate combines strong mechanical/ordnance design expertise with customer-facing technical leadership and the ability to manage multiple engineering priorities simultaneously.

This role reports into NPD Engineering Leadership and directly leads a team of engineers while serving as a primary technical contributor on assigned development programs.
 

Responsibilities
•    Lead and support new product development activities utilizing PacSci EMC APD/NPD processes.
•    Serve as a first-line technical leader responsible for mentoring, guiding, and developing engineering team members.
•    Directly contribute to engineering development activities as a hands-on technical lead on assigned projects.
•    Lead design review preparation and execution activities, ensuring engineering teams are prepared with required analysis, testing, and technical justification.
•    Own engineering deliverables and execution against allocated engineering hours and program schedules.
•    Balance engineering workloads, assign tasks, and support execution prioritization across the team.
•    Interface directly with customers, vendors, testing organizations, and internal stakeholders during technical reviews and development activities.
•    Support bid and proposal activities, technical reviews, innovation initiatives, and customer relationship development.
•    Drive engineering excellence, process discipline, and continuous improvement initiatives across the team.
•    Participate in failure investigations, technical problem-solving, and production support activities as needed.
•    Promote proactive communication, strong technical rigor, and high-confidence customer engagement.
•    Conduct daily management activities and communicate engineering execution status as required.
 

Qualifications
•    Bachelor’s degree in engineering required, Master’s degree preferred.
•    5+ years of engineering, product development, or technical leadership experience in aerospace, defense, or related industries.
•    Strong mechanical and/or ordnance design experience required.
•    Experience leading product development programs through design review phases including preliminary and critical design reviews.
•    Demonstrated customer-facing technical leadership experience.
•    Ability to balance hands-on engineering responsibilities with people leadership responsibilities.
•    Strong analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills.
•    Experience guiding and mentoring engineering teams in a fast-paced technical environment.
•    Broad engineering exposure preferred; candidates with overly narrow technical specialization may not be successful in this role.
•    Experience with DFMEA/FMECA, reliability/system safety, and failure analysis strongly preferred.
•    Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining technical rigor and execution discipline.
•    Experience within safety-critical aerospace and defense environments preferred.

Additional Information
