The Department of Education at Elmhurst University invites applications for a full-time visiting lecturer beginning August 2026. We are looking for a qualified educator to teach undergraduate courses in secondary (PK-12/5-12) education, as well as education prerequisite courses. The position will begin in Fall of 2026 and require on-campus presence for teaching. This is a one-year appointment that may be renewed for a second year.
Position Status: Exempt
Salary Range: $53,000 - $58,000. This is the expected salary range for this position. The actual salary offered will depend on a candidate's experience and education, and departmental budget.
Responsibilities
- Teaches seminars and general methods courses for the Secondary (PK-12/5-12) programs.
- Teaches one or more prerequisite courses focused on educational foundations, educational psychology, or education for students with exceptionalities, based on background and expertise.
- Is available to teach in-person during the day and some evenings; teaches a load of 8 courses per year over the fall, January, and spring terms.
- Demonstrates a passion for teaching a diverse student population and setting high expectations for student success.
- Demonstrates proficient and creative technology use; is able to grade, manage, and set up course modules and activities using the Blackboard learning management system.
- Collaborates with the Department leadership team and other middle/secondary instructors to discuss program articulation, implications of student data, and personalized student support strategies.
- Schedules on-campus office hours during the week to meet with students.
- Is available for on-campus meetings during the semester.
