We are seeking a strategic, community-focused Manager, Planning to join our Indigenous Services team. This diverse team of professionals are dedicated to exceeding clients’ unique needs within a rapidly evolving business and governance landscape. MNP is a leading national accounting, tax and business consulting firm for Indigenous Nations, businesses, and entrepreneurs in Canada.
As a trusted advisor, you’ll bring a blend of technical Planning knowledge, qualitative research skills, and project management expertise to help shape sustainable, community-driven development. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to meaningful work that integrates land, culture, and long-term visioning.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the proposal and delivery of consulting engagements with a focus on planning services in the Indigenous sector such as capital plans, land/traditional use studies, financial analysis, and Comprehensive Community Plans (CCP)
- Collaborate with Indigenous partners to develop planning frameworks that reflect community priorities.
- Conduct qualitative and quantitative research, including socio-economic, environmental, regulatory and financial analysis
- Manage engagement planning and scheduling as well as project financials
- Identify innovative ways to deliver added value to clients; ensure needs are met and relationships grow and develop
- Review, design and develop high-quality deliverables including reports, presentations and other correspondence
- Maintain high quality control and apply specialized knowledge to anticipate, identify and address issues or key risks relevant to the client’s business
- Network in the local business community, consider business development opportunities and lead the preparation and delivery of competitive proposals to meet client needs
- Mentor, motivate and coach team members towards professional and personal development by setting clear expectations and providing clear feedback
- Maintain flexibility to travel, as necessary
Skills and Experience
- Degree in Urban/Regional/Rural Planning, Indigenous Studies, Geography, Environmental Studies, or a related field
- 7+ years of experience in community planning, ideally with Indigenous communities
- Strong project management skills and ability to manage multiple priorities
- Experience with qualitative research, financial analysis and community-based engagement
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including technical writing and presentation development
- Experience in consulting or a strong interest in consulting work
- Deep understanding of Indigenous governance and planning contexts an asset
