Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY

Zachry is seeking Work Face Planners’ on-site role, responsible for facilitating the scoping, creation, and management of Installation Work Packages (IWPs) throughout the project lifecycle. This position ensures that construction activities are planned and executed safely, efficiently, and productively by coordinating with Superintendents and integrating requirements across Engineering, Planning, Procurement, Safety, Quality, and Commissioning. The Work Face Planner supports Advanced Work Packaging (AWP) implementation and contributes to project reporting, constraint management, and schedule alignment.

PRIMARY POSITION OBJECTIVE

To support the successful execution of construction work by developing and managing Installation Work Packages (IWPs) that are safe, efficient, and free of constraints. This includes:

· Breaking down Construction Work Packages (CWPs) into IWPs aligned with the Path of Construction.

· Collaborating with Superintendents and other stakeholders to ensure IWPs reflect field conditions and discipline standards.

· Supporting schedule updates, material tracking, and reporting.

· Driving continuous improvement through feedback loops and close-out reviews.

Responsibilities

RESPONSIBILITIES

· Develop and implement AWP processes and procedures.

· Draft and coordinate RFIs; support backcharges and change orders.

· Assist in 4D modeling setup and maintenance.

· Participate in cost reviews and ensure accurate drawing distribution.

· Track progress against work packages and validate daily progress.

· Perform material takeoffs and initiate requisitions.

· Use internal systems (e.g., Qtrax, constraint management software, model software) for planning and tracking.

· Coordinate 90-day look-ahead plans and resolve constraints.

· Attend War Room meetings and support schedule updates.

· Collaborate with other discipline planners to ensure logical execution sequencing.

· Conduct weekly field walks and validate work package progress.

· Support resource planning and material management coordination.

Qualifications

REQUIREMENTS

Education:

· Required: High School Diploma or GED

· Preferred: Associate or bachelor’s degree in construction management, Engineering, or related field (or 6 years of relevant industry experience in lieu of degree)

EXPERIENCE:

· Minimum of 4 years in construction or project controls, with experience in work packaging and field planning.

Knowledge & Technical Skills:

· Strong understanding of construction methods and discipline-specific execution.

· Proficient in interpreting technical drawings and specifications.

· Familiarity with project controls, safety regulations, and jurisdictional requirements.

· Skilled in identifying and resolving execution risks and constraints.

· Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and construction planning tools.

· Effective communicator with strong problem-solving and organizational abilities.

· Capable of working independently and collaboratively in fast-paced environments. 

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Employee will be required to communicate in person, via telephone, email, video chat and software systems.  Position will include visits to maintenance sites and industrial facilities requiring mobility (on ground and at heights) and the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) including but not limited to: hard hat, safety glasses/goggles, ear plugs/muffs, masks/respirators, safety vests, gloves and work boots.

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Employee will work in multiple environments including an office, warehouse and in a trailer or building on sites.  On work sites noise levels will be moderate to high.  Job site will contain light to heavy equipment vehicles, small to large equipment, materials, communication equipment and tools, people standing, walking, sitting, signaling and talking, bells whistles and alarms.
