Job Description

Job Summary:

 

The PRN Occupational Therapist is responsible for providing high-quality occupational therapy services on an as-needed basis. This position requires the therapist to evaluate and treat patients, develop individualized treatment plans, and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to achieve optimal patient outcomes.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Patient Care:
    • Evaluate patients' physical, cognitive, and emotional abilities and develop individualized treatment plans.
    • Implement therapeutic activities and exercises to improve patients' functional abilities and independence.
    • Monitor and document patients' progress and adjust treatment plans as necessary.
    • Educate patients and their families on exercises and activities to enhance recovery and promote independence.
  2. Collaboration:
    • Work closely with providers, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care.
    • Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings to discuss patient progress and treatment plans.
    • Provide guidance and support to therapy assistants and other support staff.
  3. Compliance and Documentation:
    • Maintain accurate and timely patient records, including evaluations, treatment plans, progress notes, and discharge summaries.
    • Ensure all documentation meets regulatory and organizational standards.
    • Adhere to all state and federal regulations and professional standards of practice.
  4. Professional Development:
    • Stay current with advances in occupational therapy and participate in continuing education opportunities.
    • Maintain professional licensure and certifications as required.

Qualifications:

  • Education: A degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program.
  • Licensure: Current state licensure or eligibility for licensure as an Occupational Therapist.
  • Experience: Previous experience in a healthcare setting preferred, but not required.
  • Skills:
    • Strong clinical skills and knowledge of occupational therapy principles and practices.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
    • Strong organizational and time management skills.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift, move, and assist patients as needed.
  • Prolonged periods of standing and walking.
  • Manual dexterity and visual acuity to perform patient assessments and treatments.

Working Conditions:

  • The PRN Occupational Therapist will work on an as-needed basis, which may include weekends, holidays, and varying shifts.
  • The work environment includes a clinical setting with exposure to infectious diseases, bodily fluids, and other potential hazards.
