Job Summary:

Join a dynamic, mission-driven organization that is redefining the future of radiology services in New England. As the Chief Medical Officer of Shields Radiology Associates, you will serve at the intersection of clinical excellence and strategic leadership, shaping the practice’s continued growth and innovation. Based in the Greater Boston area, this role will drive clinical strategy, quality, and safety to elevate the patient experience.

Shields Radiology Associates (SRA) is the professional physician group affiliated with Shields Health, providing radiologic interpretation services across a broad network of outpatient imaging centers and collaborating with partner hospital sites. The group operates in alignment with Shields’ commitment to clinical excellence, advanced imaging technology, and patient-first service.

SRA is comprised of 13 board-certified radiologists, representing subspecialties that include musculoskeletal, neuroradiology, body imaging, women’s imaging, and interventional radiology. The group supports both high-volume community-based services and complex tertiary-level interpretations. Recognized for its clinical rigor, strong peer collaboration, and dedication to continuous improvement, SRA has an impressive reputation that includes being one of the region’s leading radiology groups. Its members are routinely involved in quality initiatives, technological advancement in diagnostics, and multidisciplinary clinical discussions with Shields’ provider partners.

This Chief Medical Officer opportunity arises as the founding member of SRA plans to retire following an exceptional tenure marked by servant leadership, vision, and a dedication to quality care. This pivotal transition marks an important moment in the group’s evolution and presents an ideal opportunity for new strategic and clinical leadership to further SRA’s mission.

The Chief Medical Officer will maintain a balanced schedule of clinical and administrative duties, engaging regularly with the Shields Health executive team and radiology leadership. Reporting to the President of Shields Health, the next Chief Medical Officer will advance the organization’s strategic vision by dedicating approximately 50% of your time shaping and executing initiatives that drive operational excellence, improve patient outcomes, and strengthen Shields’ market position. This leader will also provide direct clinical care by interpreting diagnostic imaging studies; performing advanced radiologic procedures, and ensuring the highest standards of safety, quality, and accuracy. You will lead innovation in radiology services, integrating digital health solutions, artificial intelligence, and other emerging technologies to deliver value-driven care. Foster physician leadership and team development, mentoring radiologists and clinical staff while aligning departmental goals with organization-wide priorities. Collaborate with senior executives, including operations, finance, and talent leaders, to optimize clinical workflows, workforce planning, and payer engagement strategies. And finally, represent Shields externally by cultivating relationships with hospital partners, vendors, and industry stakeholders to enhance Shields’ influence and reputation.
