Job Description

Job Title:             Instructional Coach/GT                   Exemption Status/Test: Exempt/210 days

Primary Purpose:


Provides coaching and support to classroom teachers and response to intervention (RtI) teachers to ensure the continuous development of instructional skills among assigned teachers across campuses.  Coaches provide multifaceted support for all instructional programs. Assists with GT program and students on campus.


 


Qualifications:


Education/Certification:


A Master’s degree from an accredited university is preferred


Valid Texas teaching certificate


 


Special Knowledge/Skills:


Knowledge of curriculum design and implementation for both general and special programs


Ability to interpret data and evaluate instructional programs and teaching effectiveness


Ability to develop and deliver training to adult learners


Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills


 


Experience:


Five years of teaching experience in the subject area assigned


Major Responsibilities and Duties:


Staff Development



  1. Work collaboratively with assigned classroom teachers to establish realistic and measurable objectives related to both the teacher’s individual professional development and student learning and to promote differentiated instruction.

  2. Support the continuous professional growth and improvement of teacher instructional skills through coaching and collaborative problem-solving.

  3. Observe classroom instruction and provide feedback and coaching to classroom teachers to facilitate improvement and innovation. Demonstrate teaching strategies with students in the classroom.

  4. Evaluate teacher effectiveness following established district programs.

  5. Promote, plan, and provide appropriate staff development for teachers, administrators, and staff.

  6. Collaborate with the District Testing Coordinator, Campus Administration, and Campus Testing Coordinators to assist with any local and state assessment needs to ensure security and fidelity of implementation.

  7. Provide data to the Curriculum Coordinator/CAO after each major assessment for all campuses assigned


Instructional and Program Management



  1. Gather and compile student data to work with campus principals and teachers to analyze and use findings to develop and apply instructional strategies and to use in Professional Learning Community (PLC) meetings.

  2. Work with teachers to analyze and interpret student data and use findings to develop and apply instructional strategies.

  3. Develop curricular or behavioral support materials as needed.

  4. Disseminate information regarding current research and significant developments on the state and national levels in the area assigned.

  5. Collaborate with campus personnel to create support and scaffolding for diverse students to ensure access to meaningful and challenging interventions.


Other



  1. Compile, maintain, and file all reports, records, and other documents required.

  2. Comply with policies established by federal and state law, State Board of Education rules, and local board policy.

  3. Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.

  4. Collaborate with instructional technology specialists to ensure program fidelity and implementation of digital software

  5. Other duties as assigned.
