Job Summary:

The Front Office Receptionist in Hockessin, DE, will be responsible for accurate and timely patient registration utilizing medical systems. This role involves verifying patient insurance coverage using facility medical necessity tools and performing duties according to established policies and procedures. The receptionist will provide exceptional customer service to patients, physicians, family members, and other medical professionals.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Welcome patients and visitors by greeting them in person or on the phone; answer or refer inquiries appropriately.
  • Record patient arrivals in the Practice Management System (EMR).
  • Verify patient identity using date of birth and name; create new patient accounts as needed.
  • Prepare patient paperwork prior to appointments.
  • Reschedule “No Show” appointments by contacting patients; document appropriately and send notifications when applicable.
  • Schedule appointments efficiently to optimize patient satisfaction, provider time, and treatment room utilization.
  • Assist patients in distress with sound judgment during emergencies.
  • Maintain accurate patient information by updating Practice Management System (EMR) records.
  • Verify insurance eligibility and payer information; notify Billing Department if prior authorization is required.
  • Maintain a clean and organized reception area.
  • Collect and record patient copays and balances at check-in/out while protecting patient confidentiality.
  • Follow company policies and procedures, reporting necessary changes.
  • Exhibit superior customer service skills and professional communication.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by Practice Manager or Area Practice Manager.
