Job Description

Job Title: Utility Associate 

Department: Special Events 

Reports To: Banquet Manager 

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Work schedule: Contingent

Job Summary:

Responsible for the setup and teardown of Special Events, as well as functioning as a bar back, ensuring each task is executed with the highest level of care, strategy, and professionalism. This role serves as the foundation and support system for successful event execution, contributing to a seamless experience for guests.


 Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Set up and tear down tables, chairs, and other special event equipment across a variety of museum-hosted events, including but not limited to private banquets, luncheons, meetings, concerts, wedding ceremonies, holiday celebrations, and corporate functions.
  • Provide bar backing support, including assistance with the setup and breakdown of display stations and bar functions during events.
  • Utilize event floorplans and diagrams to accurately place tables, chairs, and equipment according to layout specifications.
  • Assist with the cleaning and reset of banquet spaces, including kitchens and prep areas, post-event.
  • Assist Vendors with loading in and out of the building
  • Execute and uphold CMA standards of professionalism and service at all times.
  • Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor.
  • Follow all CMA event protocols and OSHA safety guidelines to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Report any equipment malfunctions to the Manager or Captain on duty promptly.
  • Assist with organization of storage areas.
  • Adhere to all federal, state, and local laws regarding the service of alcohol and food safety, when applicable.

 

 

 

 

Qualifications:

  • Ability to work independently without close supervision
  • Self-starter with a strong sense of reliability, especially during end-of-night breakdowns and closing duties
  • Demonstrates excellent organizational and communication skills
  • Ability to lift and carry 50 lbs or more safely and consistently


Uniform Requirements:

  • Black pants
  • Black Shirt must be free from writing or logos or CMA-branded shirt when applicable 
  • Black non-slip shoes or black work boots appropriate for physical labor

Physical Demands:

You must be able to see, stand, and walk. A qualified candidate must be able to lift fifty pounds, assist with handling tables and chairs, carrying trays, and cases of alcohol, as needed.
