ANNOUNCEMENT OF POSITION VACANCY
SUMMARY: The Cal Poly Pomona Enterprises is currently seeking a detail-oriented Student Social Media & Digital Outreach Assistant to support the Center’s growing digital presence. This position plays a key role in promoting events, publications, and initiatives while helping expand the Center’s visibility across multiple platforms. The Student Assistant will be responsible for creating, managing, and publishing content for the Center’s social media channels. Additional support may also be provided to affiliated programs, including the Digital Humanities Consortium, the Philosophy Department, the Philosophy Club, and the Science, Technology, and Society program. This role requires strong communication skills, creativity, and the ability to manage multiple tasks independently. The schedule is flexible, with 5–20 hours per week depending on program needs.
SOME OF THE THINGS THAT YOU WILL GET TO DO (this is just a small sampling of work variety):
- Create, schedule, and publish content across social media platforms such as Instagram, LinkedIn, and Bluesky.
- Promote events, publications, and initiatives through engaging, accessible, and audience-appropriate posts.
- Assist in developing and implementing digital outreach strategies to increase visibility and engagement.
- Design simple graphics and visual content using tools such as Canva or similar platforms.
- Monitor social media activity and respond to messages or comments as appropriate.
- Coordinate with Center staff to ensure timely, accurate, and consistent communication.
- Support digital engagement efforts across affiliated academic programs and initiatives.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience managing or contributing to social media accounts (personal, student organizations, or professional).
- Strong written communication skills with attention to tone, clarity, and audience.
- Familiarity with major social media platforms and current content trends.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Strong time management and organizational skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively as part of a team.
PREFERRED:
- Basic graphic design experience using tools such as Canva, Adobe Express, or similar platforms.
- Experience creating and editing video content, including recordings of events, presentations, and short-form promotional materials.
- Interest or background in digital media, communications, philosophy, ethics, or related fields.
- Experience supporting digital outreach, marketing, or content strategy initiatives.
ABOUT US: As the largest employer of students on the Cal Poly Pomona campus, the Enterprises offers valuable work experience and hands-on training to approximately 1,500 Cal Poly Pomona students each year.
