Description
Kairos’ Treatment Foster Care supports respite-only providers to care for youth on an as needed basis. Respite is an interval of rest and relief from the daily supervision requirements for the Treatment Foster Parents. Kairos’ Respite Providers are trained to provide a high level of structure and supervision within their home to create a therapeutic, trauma-informed environment. Respite Providers are considered “professional parents” because they provide opportunities for positive connection, skill building, supervision, and support. Each youth has a service plan developed by their professional supports in collaboration with their larger care team, this guides the treatment that the youth receive while engaging in respite care. Respite Providers can offer key insights to the youth's treatment team because they provide daily supervision, skill building, and consistency for the youth while they are in the respite placement. Respite Providers build healthy relationships with youth and help them grow from and through the adversities they have faced.
This respite period is intended to:
- Give Treatment Foster Parents and other caregivers a break from their day-to-day supervisory duties for a set period where they will be free from any emergency back-up responsibilities.
