Description

Bierman Autism Centers is looking for a hands-on, data-driven Manager of Operational Excellence & Site Expansion to help us scale our mission of transforming the lives of children with autism. Reporting to the EVP of Enterprise Performance and Strategy, this role sits at the intersection of strategy and field operations—driving denovo center execution, unlocking operational efficiencies across our network, and building the schedule optimization systems that power quality care at scale. If you love turning insight into action and working shoulder-to-shoulder with operators to make real things happen, we want to meet you.

Position Description

The Manager of Operational Excellence & Site Expansion is a hands-on operator who drives day-to-day execution of Bierman’s enterprise performance goals. This role is responsible for leading denovo (new center) launches from site readiness through self-sustainability, engineering operational efficiencies across centers and functional areas, and designing and deploying the schedule optimization systems that govern clinician utilization, client access, and billable-hour performance.

The Manager of Operational Excellence & Site Expansion serves as a bridge between strategy and the field, bringing data, process discipline, and execution focus to ensure Bierman operates with excellence and consistency at scale. The Manager partners directly with center and service delivery leaders, conducts operational audits, manages tactical improvement projects, and supports new center efforts.

Qualified candidates will be naturally curious, detail-oriented, and comfortable moving between boardroom analytics and center-floor problem solving. They will be highly motivated, take initiative, and look to make a larger, positive impact on children, families, and teammates.

OKRs: Denovo center ramp and time-to-profitability, center gross margins, billed/non-billed ratio, schedule fill and utilization, overall growth.

Why Join Enterprise Performance and Strategy at Bierman?

  • High-Impact Mandate: You’ll own the systems and playbooks that determine how successfully Bierman opens new centers, runs existing ones, and schedules care for thousands of children—work that directly compounds across the enterprise.
  • Comprehensive Benefits: Offered for full-time employees. This includes Flexible Discretionary Time Off (take time off as needed—we mean it!), Holiday Pay, 401k, Health, Dental and Vision Insurance, Short- and Long-Term Disability, Life Insurance, Pet Insurance, HSAs, FSAs, and more.
  • Competitive Pay: Pay is based on candidate qualifications and experience.
  • Growth and Advancement Opportunities: Tuition reimbursement, student loan assistance, professional development, and a clear career path within a growing, mission-driven organization.
  • Be Part of a Great Team: You’ll join a passionate, empathetic, and supportive EPS team that partners across every function—from Clinical and Operations to Finance and Product.
  • Mission That Matters: Every schedule you optimize, every center you stand up, and every audit you run is in service of a child getting better care, sooner.

What happens after I apply?

You will be invited to have a 1:1 virtual interview with a recruiter. After this, you will have the opportunity to speak with members of the EPS leadership team and visit one of our centers to see our operators and clinicians in action. We’re not just interviewing you—you get to interview us!

Key Responsibilities

Denovo Center Execution

  • Own the denovo operational playbook from pre-opening through incubation, including site readiness, staffing ramp, scheduling build-out, systems setup, and compliance.
  • Partner with Real Estate, Clinical, Services, People, and Finance teams to sequence and execute every workstream required to open a new center on time and on plan.
  • Provide on-the-ground operational support during incubation until new centers hit fill, margin, and quality milestones and transition to steady-state.
  • Continuously refine the denovo model based on post-launch reviews, tightening time-to-profitability and reducing execution risk for each subsequent opening.

Operational Efficiencies – Business Operating System (BOS)

  • Implement and maintain BOS processes at the center level, ensuring day-to-day operational data is accurate, actionable, and used in decision-making.
  • Identify and eliminate waste, duplication, and manual workarounds across centers and functional areas using operational excellence.
  • Cascade critical dashboards and OKRs to center leaders; translate performance data into clear, prioritized actions.
  • Partner with Product Development and internal teams to automate high-friction processes and roll out scalable tooling.

Schedule Optimization Systems

  • Design, deploy, and continuously improve the scheduling systems and standards that govern clinician utilization, RBT/BCBA pairing, client authorization fulfillment, and billable/non-billable ratios.
  • Build the data model, business rules, and operating cadence that turn scheduling into a measurable, optimizable system—not an art form.
  • Partner with Clinical Directors and Practice Managers to roll out scheduling best practices, resolve conflicts, and close the gap between prescribed and delivered hours.
  • Collaborate with data and product partners to embed schedule optimization logic into tooling, reporting, and daily management routines.
  • Experience implementing and managing block scheduling models

Operational Audits and Insights

  • Conduct regular audits of center performance, surfacing gaps, inconsistencies, and opportunities across the network.
  • Prepare reports and insights for the Services Delivery team and center leaders; escalate risks and recommend corrective actions.
  • Build and maintain an “early warning system” so performance slippage is identified and addressed before it compounds.

Partnership with the Services Team

  • Partner with Clinical Directors, Practice Managers, and Services leaders to troubleshoot and resolve operational challenges.
  • Coach center leaders on BOS execution, scheduling discipline, and performance management.
  • Share cross-center best practices and help standardize operations across regions.

Team Contribution

  • Act as an internal consultant on assigned projects, managing scope, timelines, and deliverables.
  • Uphold Bierman’s core values and model a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, healthcare administration, operations, industrial engineering, or a related field required; MBA or advanced degree a plus.
  • 5–7 years of experience in operations, process management, healthcare operations, consulting, or a related role.
  • Prior experience in a multi-site healthcare or service delivery organization strongly preferred; direct experience standing up new sites (denovo execution) is highly valued.
  • Demonstrated experience designing or running scheduling, workforce management, or capacity optimization systems.
  • Strong analytical and auditing skills with the ability to translate data into actionable insights; comfort with Excel/Sheets modeling and BI tools.
  • Working knowledge of operational excellence methodologies (Lean, Six Sigma, or equivalent).
  • Effective project management and organizational skills; able to run multiple workstreams simultaneously.
  • Excellent written and oral communication; able to partner credibly with leaders at every level, from center floor to executive team.
  • Proven ability to step into leadership roles temporarily and stabilize operations.
  • Integrity, professionalism, and the ability to handle confidential information.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and comfortable working in a primarily MacOS environment.
  • Proficiency with or ability to quickly learn Bierman’s technology platforms, including CentralReach and Tableau.
  • Willingness to travel to centers as needed to support denovo launches and audits

Essential Job Functions

  • Manual dexterity to perform computer and device functions for analysis, reporting, and documentation.
  • Visual acuity to read and comprehend written materials across devices and formats.
  • Ability to sustain prolonged periods of computer work, desk-based tasks, and virtual meetings.
  • Ability to travel to Bierman centers as needed.

Compensation and Benefits

Pay is competitive and based on candidate qualifications and experience. Full-time employees are offered our comprehensive benefits, including Paid Time Off, 401k, health, dental, and vision insurance, and the option of short- and long-term disability insurance.
