We have an opportunity at our corporate offices in Chicago for a Health Science & Ethics, Intern on our Health, Science & Ethics team. This is a hybrid position reporting into our Chicago, IL office, requiring 3 days a week in the office. 

 

The DePaul Summer Scholars Job Placement Program,
funded by the DePaul University College of Law Mary and Michael Jaharis Health Law Institute
and the Jaharis Foundation, provides qualified first and second-year DePaul health law
students with paid summer positions at some of the most distinguished law firms and health
organizations in Chicago. The Partner Institution designate a supervising attorney or attorneys, who are expected to give substantive work assignments to the students at their discretion, as well as to supervise the students and provide appropriate feedback. In return, the Partner Institutions obtain quality work from soon-to-be lawyers at no cost.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Research state and federal laws relevant to Science, Medicine, and Public Health's activities and reports.
  • Assist in the development of background materials on proposed AMA policies.
  • Observe the AMA's policy making process.
  • Review the evidence to support scientific/public health policies

May include other responsibilities as assigned 

REQUIREMENTS:

  1. The Scholar will be in a learning situation, however, and is not an employee of the Partner Institution or of DePaul.

 

The American Medical Association is located at 330 N. Wabash Avenue, Chicago, IL 60611 and is convenient to all public transportation in Chicago. 

 

The Summer Scholars program is designed to provide students with a substantive summer work experience in the area of health law. The Summer Scholars program provides a $7,000 stipend to the student, who in turn works for a minimum of eight weeks over the summer for one of DePaul’s Partner Institutions. The Partner Institution designate a supervising attorney or attorneys, who are expected to give substantive work assignments to the students at their discretion, as well as to supervise the students and provide appropriate feedback. In return, the Partner Institutions obtain quality work from soon-to-be lawyers at no cost.
