FSAP and PETA
Position Objective:
To research and coordinate a variety of special projects and local legislative projects related to PETA’s work to promote animal liberation to the masses and make a meaningful impact
Primary Responsibilities and Duties:
• Work with the President and Manager of Strategic Initiatives on a range of projects to further animal rights
• Coordinate local legislative initiatives, multimedia projects, and other outreach projects for PETA’s campaigns, working in collaboration with other departments
• Conduct research on a wide range of topics
• Draft letters and other written materials to support special projects and strategic initiatives
• Develop, execute, and assist with initiatives to push campaigns into the media spotlight and the public consciousness
• Attend events and protests as needed
• Travel to attend and speak at city council meetings as needed
• Interact professionally and diplomatically with activists, donors, corporate contacts, elected officials, and others
• Professionally advocate PETA's positions on issues
• Perform any other duties as assigned by the President or Manager of Strategic Initiatives
• Degree in a related field or equivalent experience
• One year of demonstrated experience independently planning and executing initiatives required
• Strong public speaking skills
• Exceptional written and verbal professional communication skills
• Excellent knowledge of animal liberation issues and PETA campaigns
• Demonstrated superior organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail
• Excellent project management skills
• Proven effective research abilities
• Proven ability to exercise initiative, independent judgment, and decision-making
• Demonstrated ability to handle confidential information with discretion
• Demonstrated ability to anticipate problems, identify opportunities, and take an active approach to responsibilities
• Proven ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines
• Willingness and ability to travel on assignment
• Professional appearance and adherence to a healthy vegan lifestyle
• Commitment to the objectives of the organization
The hourly pay range for this position is $18.54 - $22.97 per hour. The ultimate hourly pay within this range that will be offered to a qualified candidate will be determined based on the candidate’s experience and the cost of living in the area in which the candidate will live and work.
