Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized individual to join our team at Orange Elementary as a full-time Bookkeeper. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, managing accounts payable and receivable, and ensuring compliance with financial regulations. This role is essential to supporting the overall financial health of the school and will involve collaboration with various departments to ensure smooth financial operations.
Responsibilities
- Maintain and update financial records, including ledgers, journals, and financial statements.
- Process accounts payable and receivable transactions in a timely manner.
- Prepare and reconcile bank statements and manage cash flow.
- Assist in the preparation of budgets and financial reports for school administration.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local financial regulations and policies.
- Collaborate with auditors during annual audits and provide necessary documentation.
- Manage payroll processing and ensure accurate and timely employee compensation.
- Respond to inquiries regarding financial transactions and provide support to staff as needed.
- Monitor and report on financial discrepancies or irregularities.
- Assist with other financial tasks and projects as assigned by the administration.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a bookkeeper or in a similar role, preferably in an educational setting.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage) and Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in financial reporting.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive financial information.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
