STATEMENT OF PURPOSE
Nitta Gelatin a multi-site manufacturing company is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic and Safety Coordinator to join our Schiller Park, IL team.
This position will be responsible for all day to day operations of the Maintenance Department. The coordinator will also be responsible for the Maintenance Budget and leading projects associated with productivity increase, cost savings, and capacity increases. Additional responsibilities associated with the Safety program administration at Vyse. Work directly with Production Team to be sure any assigned Maintenace or Safety tasks are being performed correctly.
Some responsibilities include but not limited to:
I. SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
· Perform all tasks in compliance with cGMP regulations.
· Flexibility in work hours/days to perform jobs/repairs in a timely, cost effective and efficient manner.
· Troubleshooting/ basic repair of HVAC systems.
· Manage a Preventative Maintenance PM and Work Order system for all equipment and plant systems.
· Work on and with pneumatic systems, stretch wrappers, conveyor belts, baggers, airlocks, screw feeders, equipment controls/wiring, electrical motors, electric forklift maintenance, overhead doors, dock levelers.
· Provide timely responses to all audit observations in written format.
· Handle maintenance correspondence with internal and external sources.
· Developing and training production personnel in routine maintenance tasks.
· General Building maintenance
· Ensuring plant compliance with known codes for building, electrical, plumbing and mechanical installations.
· Maintaining a safe, organized and efficient shop with spare parts inventory.
· Handling work requests in an organized, timely fashion to minimize downtime and risks to personnel or plant.
· Installation or coordination of all new equipment.
· Ability to use a forklift/scissor lift safely as needed.
· Work in coordination with other company Environmental Health and Safety personnel to improve and administer the Vyse safety program including OSHA 30 and LOTO.
· Participate as a Food Safety Team member.
· Responsible for adhering to and upholding the company’s food safety and quality policies. This includes understanding the relevant procedures, ensuring compliance in daily operations, and actively contributing to a culture of food safety and quality. Employee must report any concerns or deviations from these policies to their supervisor immediately.
