POSITION SUMMARY
Modern Government Solutions LLC (MGS) is seeking a Transportation & Logistics Coordinator to support Blue Water Instrumentation (BWI) operations at the Point Mugu Sea Range. This role is responsible for planning and executing the movement of equipment, materials, and personnel in support of R&D, prototyping, and test operations. Working closely with the Field Logistics Coordinator, this position ensures assets are transported, staged, and delivered in alignment with mission timelines. The Transportation & Logistics Coordinator plays a critical role across the logistics lifecycle, from procurement and staging through delivery and recovery, ensuring reliable, compliant, and efficient movement of mission-critical assets.
RESPONSIBILITIES (not limited to):
- Plan and coordinate transportation of equipment, prototype systems, and materials across facilities, staging areas, and test locations.
- Develop and manage movement schedules aligned with test events and operational priorities.
- Coordinate company vehicle usage, including load planning, routing, and asset utilization.
- Ensure proper packaging, handling, and transport of sensitive or controlled equipment.
- Partner with the Field Logistics Coordinator to enable seamless transition from transport to field execution.
- Manage shipping and receiving activities, including tracking inbound/outbound shipments and resolving discrepancies.
- Monitor logistics pipelines, identify risks or delays, and implement mitigation strategies.
- Support procurement logistics, including vendor coordination, delivery tracking, and receipt verification.
- Ensure compliance with transportation regulations, safety standards, and controlled material requirements.
- Maintain accurate documentation for transportation, shipping, and logistics operations.
- Support inventory tracking and accountability during asset movement.
- Coordinate vehicle fleet scheduling and basic maintenance tracking.
- Provide status updates to program leadership on timelines, risks, and execution progress.
- Operate across office, warehouse, and field environments, coordinating closely with logistics personnel, engineers, and program teams to support program execution.
- Oversee hands-on coordination of equipment movement and support test events as needed, including up to 20% travel to meet mission requirements.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
- Must possess an active Department of Defense (DoD) Secret security clearance.
- Associate's degree (or equivalent experience) in Logistics, Transportation, Supply Chain, or related field.
- 3-5 years of experience in logistics, transportation coordination, or supply chain operations.
- Experience coordinating movement of equipment, materials, or personnel.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and timelines.
- Experience with shipping, receiving, and inventory tracking processes.
- Familiarity with transportation planning, routing, and load coordination.
- Strong communication and cross-functional coordination skills.
- Ability to operate in a dynamic, mission-driven environment.
PREFERRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience supporting DoD programs, test ranges, or training environments.
- Familiarity with property accountability systems (e.g., A2B or similar).
- Experience handling sensitive or controlled equipment and compliance requirements.
- Background in fleet or vehicle management.
- Experience supporting RDT&E or prototype-driven programs.
- Knowledge of expeditionary or field logistics operations.
- Prior military or defense contractor experience.
